The Background:
Folks, this is not porn to sate your masturbatory needs. If you think Gag Factor is erotic, pass this whole thread (unless you are Ava Devine, in which case you should call me immediately). Heck, if you think Showtime After Dark is erotic, pass this by and run away. This is technically porn for 2 reasons:
1. There are some graphic BJ's and sex scenes
2. It was rated "X" upon its release.

Contemporary Relevance:
1. The first (and only) porn musical. There are rumors of a 1978 porn musical with Kay Parker (Taboo), called Chorus Call, but I know no one who has seen it.
2. Lead actress actually started in porn and moved onto mainstream success, one of the very, very few.
3. (IMO) this is as mainstream as porn ever got. No matter now many Lizzie Bordens or Joons or Janine Lindemulders get up and pine for mainstream acceptance, they are branded. This is as close as it ever got.

Side note: What was an "X-Rated movie?"
Back in the late 60s, one of the MPAA ratings was "X." It signified a film which didn't conform to the existing ratings (G, M, and R), or went unrated altogether. Many early adult films were classified "X," because no porn magnate wanted to pony up the cashish to get a rating (which by then had been copyrighted). Movies like {i]A Clockwork Orange and MIdnight Cowboy were rightly labelled X. Coincidentally, Midnight Cowboy, given the de facto "X" rating, and won an Oscar in 1969 as Best Picture. Anyway, by the mid 1970's, the "X" rating became so synonymous with porn that non-porn "X" movies were banned by theater owners. So the MPAA dreamed up the NC-17 rating, pretty much equally as shunned by theaters (anyone go see Showgirls?), and porn, which had correctly been using the X-rating, dreamt up the "XXX" rating in a Monty Python moment, bypassing "XX" altogether.

Cast:
Kristine DeBell as Alice. Kristine would go on to mainstream success in Meatballs, and play a long-time role on The Young and The Restless.. Rumors of her demise have surfaced, but she simply moved from TV to the stage, and I believe continues to perform through now.

Of course there is a plot. If you haven't read Alice in Wonderland, please call me soI can beat you across the face with a ball peen hammer. Although, The Humpty Dumpty scene was not in the orignal novel, nor most Disney productions.

There is no point going over the plot or scene breakdowns. The value of this flick: knowing that it exists, increasing your porn knowledge base. So just relax and enjoy a few screen caps from a very different film.

Our first look at Kristine DeBell (with Ron Nelson). Ron wants her, but she's too prude to allow Ron into her babyhole (right now).

Kristine starts off the first musical number, wondering is she can relive a happy adolescence in a few years, instead of wasting it in the bookshelves.

Alice meets the Oogaloos after getting wet in the river.

Apparently the Oogaloos have a talent for drying a wet female body by licking it. OK, fair enough.

Alice next meets the horny talking rock, the babbling brook, and the talking wind. What else to do but jill off and sing?

There was speculation that DeBell had body doubles for her sex scenes. I think you'll find that idea has been laid to rest, so to speak.

Alice sits down to tea with Mr Rabbit and The Mad Hatter. Now I know why Cleetus likes this movie.

FINALLY, some sex! Evidently "9 7/8ths" is not the Mad Hatter's hat size.

Two of Wonderland's nurses (Nancy Dare and Terri Hall) examine each other. Terri Hall continued in porn until the mid 1980s.

Terri Hall has a box lunch.

Alice, The Mad Hatter, Mr. Rabbit and the Good Doctor are summoned to visit Humpty Dumpty, who it seems can't get it up any more. Not even the naked dancing lesbian nurses can put Humpty's libido back together again.

As Alice fellates the Good Egg (Bradford Armdexter, FWIW), he seems to be recovering. Why am I thinking "Dr Evil" here?

There's a lot of singing afterward rejoicing on how Alice "fixed his ding-a-ling."

As Alice's intrudoction in "natural sex" evolves, she next enounters Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum, played by husband-wife Sue & Tony Tsongeles.

The Tweedles fuck. In reality they are Tony Richards and Bree Anthony aka Sue Richards, who was the titular head of High Society magazine for a time in the late 70s.

And in the strange logic of this movie, they are also brother and sister, making this not only a porn musical, but a porn incest musical.

It's right about now that I'm getting wierded out by this movie...but we press on.

After watching the family Tweedle degenerate themselves, Alice, El Mad Hatador and Mr. Rabbit are walking through the forest discussing the "king's ball" and the "queen's box." If your mind wanders and you think up every cheesy pun with these two concepts in mind, you will have grasped the scene.

Alice next happens on the "Black Knight" being ridden by Angel Barrett.

The music accompanying this scene revolves around the chorus, "What's a nice girl like you doing on a (k)night like this?"

The king's ball. Evidently the queen has a huge box from which to see the king's balls...awww screwit!

The Queen finds that The King has a taste for Alice.

The Queen wants Alice's head, figuratively, but apparently there must be some sort of trial upon which to judge Alice's guilt or innocence. It's really a trial to decide how prude she is, but I digress, I'm sure Kato Kaelin paid close attention to this scene.

Is that Isaac Hayes?

There's kind of a general orgy during the trial, those Wonderlanders being sexually liberated and all.

Alice was found guilty of being sexually prude, and as such had to give The Queen (Juliet Graham) her head.

As you can tell by now, there is a lot of "implied sex" in this movie, but it is hardcore also., which even for its time was unusual. Roger Ebert seems to have agreed, he gave it a "thumb up" (or something up, anyhow).

Home stretch now...Alice escapes back into the "real world" and finds her delivery boy lover, upon whom whe unleashes her new-found sexual openness.

Did anyone else notice that the guy who played the white rabbitt was also the same guy who played Dr. Bernie Tupperman, the urologist, in the old Bob Newhart Show?

Larry Gelman...yes they are one and the same. The music director for this movie Peter Matz was nominated for a Tony Award in 1962, and did early music arrangements for Barbara Streisand. I told you, this is about as mainstream as it has ever gotten.
