parcells won his super bowls with defenses that could shut down the k-gun and thurman and befuddling elway. the offenses just needed to score some to win.

let's look at the guy in the decade after belicheck wasn't there to take some really-good offenses out of the game including getting there over montana and the 49ers at their best.

he's a pretty-good coach, a guy who can get you from lousy to 8-8 in a few years with some vets. problem is he can't do much more than that in his solo-era then he eventually bails and starts again because a head coach can basically scare a pro team for a few years, make them competitive. that's not winning a super bowl.

the guy's just a screamer who does press-releases without having the guy who was obviously doing some of the best pure coaching football's seen since bill walsh. it's pretty obvious belicheck was the difference between him never getting to a super bowl in the first place like most coaches and probably wouldn't have managed to stay a head coach forever as a .500 and change coach like he's been the last decade.
