Hell yeah!!!! Top 4: Brazil, Germany, England and Italy... As far as Mexico, first time since world cup 1994 that we have a "comfortable" group, so maybe with a little luck we´ll reach quarterfinals

I'm just fucking pumped Australia made it for the first time in 30 odd years. But we're in a group with Brazil so we won't make it past group stage, even with Viduka, Kewell and Cahill all firing in the premier league.
It's funny, normally in Australia we don't like any sport that doesn't have violence and at least a possibility of some contestent dying, but we're so patriotic that we're really getting behind the team...

Two great players don´t make goals by themselves. Plus, there's more than meets the eye. Remember the ending of the World Cup in France?

According to World cup history, europe is for european teams and the Americas are for "american" teams...gameday that shit doesn´t matter but its hard to ignore...
Brazil could be a mess, but they have players that with the blink of an eye can change the course of a game...technically and skillfully there´s nobody like the brazilians, they have the best player in the world, Ronaldhino, Two deadly strikers Ronaldo and Adriano and their midfield is strong and creative, kaká maybe hasn´t fully matured but still he can be quite effective, plus Ronaldhino makes everyone play better, you can argue their defense is their weak point but when have brazilians depended on their defense to play the way they play; that´s the thing, they could be playing horribly but their individualities can resolve games, that´s a fact.
England...I´d like to them win, I like their league and I like their players...Rooney, Owen(I can´t forget his goal against argentina), Lampard, Gerrard, Terry, Beckham...and i have this feeling that they have been cheated in past world cup appearances, deserving much more than what they accomplished
Germany, well they have homefield advantage, a young team(I think Deisler is gonna be miss this one too), two key players that are essential to their gameplay and spirit...Oliver Khan, despite fact that his playing ability has decreased substantially he is a great goalkeeper, screams a lot, orders around, makes excellent saves(one to one he is simply outstanding) and has a lot of personality on the field(reassurance to young players); Michael Ballack, Germany´s best player, great creative midfielder, he can pass, he can shoot, he can score with his head and feet...and germans never ever give up, scores don´t matter, crowd doesn´t matter, opposing team don´t matter...
Italy...Personal favorites after Mexico, I like the fact that they seem to hold their best gameplay until the final rounds of the tournament, often doing just barely to get through the first stage and improving as they move along, not nearly as spectacular as Brazil or Portugal but depicting great order and work ethic...as far as players go, I think they posses qualities that could rival the likes of brazilian players...Totti(they say he´s gonna make it) and Del Piero can play superb, even if they don´t play at the same time...goalscorers, not as good as other cups but still dangerous, effective...their defense always their strong point, great defenders with offensive projection when needed...they are deadly on counterattacks and have probably the best goalkeeper on the world...If they score first you are in a lot of trouble...

Nice Christian, has Chelsea always been your team or just now because they've locked up the EPL title?
I've just begun to be a fan of pro Futbol in the last year, and I just spent the last week at a Club Med playing just about every day, really the first time I've played in about 20 years or so! I've been Tivo'ing the English Premier League game of the week on Fox Sports, so that's the limit of my knowledge right now, maybe I should pick a team to call my own here someday. I just read Nick Hornby's "Fever Pitch" last month, so I'm primed to become a nut. I'm not sure that the 'Arse will be my thing, but it really wasn't until I saw Thierry Henry bicycle-kick a goal from the corner of the big box while running away from it that I realized soccer is exciting when the players are of high quality.

i only went to Chelsea because a season ticket holder got me a prime seat. I love Henry, but it's hard to like Arsenal because they dont start any English players. I probably should like Fulham b/c they have McBride and Bocanegra. okay fellas....are you ready? i will show you guys something funny......

Nice collection of shirts bro... Man, I wish I could go to the world cup. My parents will be going to the final, damn them. I was just in England but unfortunately didn't get to go to a game. My parents own a house in a town just near Manchester, so because of that I go for Manchester City (no one who lives in Manchester actually goes for Manchester United). Next time I'm back in England I'll go see City play, for sure. As to the violence thing, real football (Australian Rules footy... no not rugby) just started back up again this last weekend, and it's nice to see people being hit by a guy they never saw coming, writh on the ground for awhile, then get back up for awhile and keep playing. In soccer, they get barely touched and they roll around like bitches, go off on a stretcher, and then come back on 2 minutes later as though nothing happened. That is the one annoying thing about soccer, especially since most English people are incredibly tough, just look at the soccer riots... and yet the players are so soft. As an Australian, it's tough to watch. but yeah, world cup, should be good. ps. Christian, who is that chick with the watermellon sized cans?

I just read something today about the groundswell of public opinion against such bitch-ass phantom "divers" and possible policing of the act with Pink Cards , how 'bout that shit! Another suggestion was after-game video scrutiny, handing out penalties for dives and reversing penalties for those booked when the other player dives. Thanks for answering the Chelsea question Christian, so am I to take it from the photos that you're a Football whore too?

I don't think they should police it that way, they just need to build it into the honour of the game: if you take a dive, you're a bitch, and everyone excepts this. In most sports, playing whilst injured is the greatest honour. For example, there's a story of an AFL player who got crunched and sustained broken ribs and a punctured lung, yet instead of going off to even see if anything was wrong, he kept playing as blood dripped into his lung. He went to hospital after the game however Not saying Australians are tough, just that in our sport you never let the other team know if you're hurt.
Also, in the world cup qualifiers in Australia when Australia player Uraguay, any time a player from Uraguay would take a dive, the whole Australian crowd would boo them, and shamed them into getting back up. it's the only way to change the mentality of the game.
wow, I can't believe I'm crapping on so much about fucking soccer

I just don't think you can instill after-market honor into flashy players who have been coddled as "stars" since they first began to stand out from the competition as kids. I'm clearly not arguing with you here, but I'd say that a Pink Card's official "you're a bitch" message would be enough to shame players into keeping it straight. Then there's always the "sin bin" approach, a 10 minute penalty box for offenders. It used to be tough stuff in the NFL too, back in the day if you had anything less than a compound leg fracture, your ass had better be walking off the field, not so anymore. Playas gotta think about they paycheck and theyz babies mammas.
