I found another myspace user in my local area with pics that match a slightly more well known pornstar. Is it common for people to impersonate pornstars on myspace?

Sadly yes. It does appear to be fairly common. I've seen a few girls holding up "sign pics" with their MySpace address to prove they are the real deal.

oh yes, way to often. I remember I got a add request from some cute girl in Iowa (not sure if THAT was even her) but also showed in her pictures, her very hot roomate "Bethany" who was actually Taylor Rain.

I have never gotten a response why someone would even do something like that when I ask them. I mean what kind of creepy mo fo pretends to be someone else?

My myspace page is getting pretty busy, and i get tons of fake ass-people. I had one that was supposed to be this hot little 19 yo stripper who was actually a porn reviewer on adt, after a while i got tired of letting someone i realized had to be a fake, did 15 minutes of detective work and found it it was a 20 something dude living at home with his parents. I have had plenty of fake profiles of girls posing as chicks looking to get into the biz, and one of them actually started contacting my friends saying she had worked with me and was scared for her life because of us, then of course pitched that she was working for a wonderful agent in Tampa and could help them get work. I will keep the name of the agent/male talent silent for now. The best is today, when an ex got onto an account and started speaking as the girl.

Common isn't the word for it. The fake porn profile is de rigueur for Myspace. Expect any median to high profile porn ho to have anywhere from 3 to a dozen profiles... none of which may be authentic.
Although they're a pain in the ass, I was mildly amused by the young man who posed as Mika Tan on Myspace... then outted himself, and proceeded to gleefully denounce the Mika fans that had added him as "degenerates" and "perverts" [ 'cuz, ya know, there's nothing perverse about a white guy posing as a diminutive Asian woman ].

I don't want to say I understand it, but the prank factor at least makes a little sense if you're pretending to be a porn star Then you can go "Haha, I fooled you." . But these 2 profiles that I came across are of people who in no way mention porno on their myspace site. It's like, "Hey, I'm a hot chick. I like hip-hop and camping. Here are my pics." And then the pics will be from some porn shoot of the pornstar sucking on a banana before she gets naked.

I guess it's just some guy who's hoping hot lesbians will send him their pics if he pretends to be a hot bi-girl. You can tell it's a fake because real hot girls always have a disclaimer like this on their myspace sites: "I know I'm hot. If you send me a message saying I'm hot, I'll ignore it. I don't want to meet any guys online, etc." And then guys ignore all of that and send her a message anyway.

Myspace merits (or lack of) aside, Monstar has done a GREAT job verifying porn star pages, which are then resourced in a directory on his group page. Check it out if you haven't already.

The individuals who make fake porn star or celebrities myspace pages have too much time on their hands. Go read a freakin book or go jerk off.

Yeah,there are folks who sadly and unwisely pose as various porn personalities with their fake pages and pretty much ruin everything for that decent porn person who's trying hard to establish their identity in the MySpace domain(it's unfortunately happened to good folks such as Joselyn Pink and Zenova Braeden,who's been with MySpace since it's very beginning).
