Organizers of the first annual F.A.M.E. (Fans of Adult Media & Entertainment) Awards are pleased to announce that fans can now vote on their favorites in the world of adult at the event’s only official website,
www.thefameawards.com. There has already been publicity about this event but today the site went live. I attended a press conference yesterday where we could ask questions of the sponsors. The typical questions were asked, is voting secure (yes, very), how many times can you vote ( once per ISP address in preliminary and once in finals), when will voting end ( probably at convention, voting will continue there via computer). And then there were some odd questions asked mostly by infamous porn gossip columist Luke Ford; something like- " Is this contest degrading to women?" And "How will this benefit the Jews". You never know whether Luke is kidding or being serious and that's how he likes it. Being an Aussie, he has a sexy accent, and unusual sense of humor. I personally asked if they would add a category for the nicest female porn journalist, and everybody laughed. Truthfully, I think I would win because I can't think of a person that fits that description except me. Damn I wish I was in charge!
Unlike many other awards, this one will be voted on entirely by the fans. There are twelve categories each with 29 names to choose from or a space to write-in your own choice. You mus be 18 years old to vote.
I am curious to see if some of the stars start campaigning for votes from their fans. I think it would be a smart move. I remember when Bisexual Britni was in a contest against the top, top stars of the year. She sent out e-mails to all her fans, everyone she knew, posted on all the message boards and on her website and ended up winning the contest! So anything is possible, and EVERY star has the chance to win. I voted today because I have my own criteria and want to observe the star's self promotion without being influenced or put in a bad position ( like if someone I know says, will you please vote for me, I can honestly say I already voted) I decided the people I would vote for would have certain qualities such as extreme hotness, enjoying their job, doing steamy scenes, can really ACT when necessary, good body, pretty or handsome face, self respect (don't do ANY thing just for the money), promote porn in a positive light, and very important, are nice, appreciative and friendly to their fans and press people. Also if two were equal to me, I picked the one that hasn't already won awards. Let's spread the wealth around!
Gorgeous Adam & Eve contract girl Carmen Luvana and award-winning actor/owner of Assassin Pictures Tommy Gunn will be hosting the actual award ceremony which will take place on June 24th the night of the Erotica LA Convention and will be free to anyone who has paid to enter the convention.
These are the 12 categories: Favorite Adult Feature Movie, Favorite Female Starlet, Favorite Male Star, Favorite Gonzo Movie, Favorite Director, Rookie Starlet of the Year, Favorite Oral Starlet, Favorite Anal Starlet, Hottest (Female) Body, Best Breasts and Best Butt. There will also be a fan-selected “Wild Card†where voters can choose the final awards category from choices such as Favorite Adult Star Website, Adult News Story of the Year, Funniest Adult Movie Title and Celebrity Couple You Most Want To See in a Sex Video. The top recipient of votes will become the twelfth and final category. Fans will be able to nominate finalists until May 1, 2006, where the top five vote getters in each category will then move onto the final round of voting which will run until the F.A.M.E. Awards Show.
Anh Tran (of adult movie rental by mail website WantedList.com), whose company developed the proprietary technology used for the F.A.M.E. Awards website voting process, ensured that a variety of security measures are being employed so that there will be no “unfair ballot stuffing. The software we’re using was made especially for this (event),†Tran said. “We’re guarding against any voter fraud.â€
F.A.M.E. hostess Carmen Luvana says, “The adult business is about the fans. They are the reason a star or a movie is a success… it’s about time they had their say and I’m happy to be a part of this historical event.â€
Tommy Gunn was also “excited and honored†to host this historic event. “To be considered at this stage in my career for something so in the forefront is amazing. I’m clearing my schedule!†the always-busy actor said when he was asked to host the event. “This is going to be great and we’re going to have a good time with the fans. I’m thrilled to be a part of this and the fans are the whole reason we’re here.â€
“We wanted to create something that was made for and decided by the fans,†said Dan Davis, Genesis’ Editor-in-Chief, “and we think both the stars and fans will enjoy this whole experience. We urge the fans to vote, and much like a presidential election, if you didn’t vote, you can’t complain. Support your favorite stars and movies.â€
Paul Fishbein, AVN’s president, said the event enhances Erotica L.A. by giving fans a chance to see the winners they themselves picked. “It ties right into the trade show, so why not get involved in this and bring in more fans?†he asked. "We're proud to be part of a show that gives the fans a voice, since they're the ones who ultimately decide which stars and products are popular. And we are especially proud to be in partnership with such fine companies as WantedList, Adam & Eve and Genesis magazine."
