From http://www.lukeisback.comWhite Model Stuck In Darkest AfricaI'm Francine Clara Satriale (MySpace profile) from California. I went to stay with my boyfriend in New Jersey when my mother died.
I'm a model. I came to Nigeria, Africa for a fashion show several months ago. I was given good money for the show but I was not paid in cash. I sent the check to my boyfriend to help me to cash it and send me back the money so that I can pay off some debt I am owing here.
To my surprise, he didn't send the money back to me. He has even left the apartment we both stayed in before I came to Africa.
I really want to get back home. I just need someone to help me pay my hotel bill. All my travel documents are with the hotel manager just because I owe the hotel. I need help fast. I don't want anything bad to happen to me. You can call me through the hotel cell number - 2348028128214. Just say you want to talk to Clara.
I will pay you back as soon as I get home. I can come to your place if you can accommodate me because I don't really have a home to go to now.
You can email or IM me at francsat@yahoo.com or francsat@hotmail.com. This has got 419 written all over it...Luke, have you never watched a David Mamet film, for crying out loud? This is the 'Spanish Prisoner' and no mistake: From http://www.snopes.comThe Nigerian Scam has been emptying the pockets of victims for decades — first through letters, then with faxes, and now via e-mail. In its earliest incarnation — which dates to the 1920s — it was known as 'The Spanish Prisoner' con. In that long-ago version, businessmen were contacted by someone trying to smuggle the scion of a wealthy family out of a prison in Spain. But of course the wealthy family would shower with riches those who helped secure the release of the boy. Those who were suckered into this paid for one failed rescue attempt after another, with the fictitious prisoner continuing to languish in his non-existent dungeon, always just one more bribe, one more scheme, one more try, away from being released. Ahh, there's one born every minute...who amongst us is noble and chivalrous enough to send this poor, innocent, pure-bred young white girl the money she needs (via Western Union or some other non-reclaimable means) before something 'bad' happens to her at the hands of those big black savages? Sorry Luke, but if all it takes is one Myspace profile, a Hotmail email address and a Yahoo email address for you to give it credence, then you've got worries...I could set up something identical in under ten minutes. All I have to do is steal some cute young girl's pic, and away I go... Of course, any right thinking person would be asking...why can't her friends and family send her the money, but folks tend not to be right-thinking when there's some cute young model that you can be the White Knight to, especially with the potential for having her stay at your place for a while and have her show her gratitude for your altruistic actions in the most old-fashioned way possible. A fool and his money are easily parted, that's all I'm going to say...I'm just surprised and disappointed that Luke didn't sniff this one out from the get-go.

Good point, Dan. I thought something was suspect but was rushing around too much to think it through. The word "Nigeria" triggered something in my head.

Man, I had insomnia last night and seeing that on Luke's sight through the tired haze was bizarre. I'm glad you guys let him down easy, but that is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Look at Smartt poppin' off, trying to stay relevant!

Floof who's your avatar bluesman?
This is Pink Anderson, along with his son Little Pink Anderson . Little Pink still plays locally.

The man, "King of the Delta Blues", Robert Johnson. I've been working on my fingerpickin' technique with help from his "Complete Works" on tablature. It makes one wonder if he really did have the Devil tune his guitar down at the crossroads. Thats awesome that the lineage is still alive and kickin' through guys like Little Pink, Buddy Guy, etc. When I was in Atlanta a few years ago for the Cub's playoff series, the only live music I could find was jazz. Not complaining mind you, I guess it's just more of a jazz town. Iowa and Arizona hasn't been the best turf for a cracka like me to find the scene, but mining the annals of Americana has been far more fulfilling pursuit than keeping up with the mostly crap music of today, y'know.

Oh, and I just realized that Pink was one of the bluesmen that inspired a certain misanthropic British acid-blues band to name themselves "Pink Floyd".
Yep yep yep, his bloodline is pure. Pinks house just got razed for the betterment of our town. Little Pink tried to get some mojo going to preserve it as a shrine but Gracelands are few and far between.
When the dozers knocked it over the rats went everywhere.
Big Daddy Crunk can tell you about the blues scene in Atlanta, he worked it for a while. Check out the Ted Hawkins pics where you gave me that Folsom Prison Cash pic a while back. Those were taken in Atlanta. It's a 2-3 hr drive from here but a world away.

Has it been working? I swear, tablature fucked me up for a long time because I got too comfortable using it. Now its all by ear.
Well, I've heard that when latter day greats like Eric Clapton and Keith Richards first heard Robert Johnson, they assumed there were 2 guitars on the track simultaneously, when in fact R.J. could play the bassline with his thumb(in rhythm) and pluck a second part independently with his fingers. Not many can pull this off, Hendrix could for instance. I too learn mostly by ear. I'm good, but I'm no Hendrix, so tablature it is. I have dicked around with "Kind Hearted Woman" for 5 years now, ONE SONG, and have only just recently begun to put it together. I'll quit jacking this thread now, but anytime someone wants to start one on music appreciation, count me in.

Really, Atlanta is NOT a jazz town. There was a fine blues club called Blind Willie's. Fat Matt's Rib Shack had local blues. Also, Northside Tavern .., mix of locals and the real authentic locals. Some of the fancier venues might get the bigger names on ther circuit ...
Man, I saw a TON of great mothafuckuzzz back in the day (88-99, basically). Bornyo knows of which I speak. He has walked in the sevenfold path of the unfiltered Kool, and drank of the clear, odorless elixir that makes a wise man foolish, and a foolish man wise. Or my real name ain't "Moon Pie Jackson."

Word up BDC, I had a great time in Atlanta and I'll be back if the gods of baseball line up the Cubs to knock the Braves out in the first round, again. I stayed in the heart of downtown and I've never seen so many black folks doin' well for themselves, and yet even the crack dealers were exceedingly polite, and a drunk chatted me up in the nicest way before I forked over a 10 spot to get him "into the shelter" that night. Homie behind the hotel desk axed me to buy him a 40 at the corner sto', which I did, and he hooked me up with the next morning's Krispy Kremes. However, I won't be denied my blues next time and you can be sure I'll hunt you down for the 411 when the time comes, Big Daddy.

Thats true. The big four for R&B/Jazz are: (in no particular order) 1. New Orleans 2. New York 3. Chicago 4. Kansas City
I know, the last one, but trust me, its true.
And since this thread hijack ponders where ISN'T a jazz town- Richmond, VA has a good blues scene.
