I've been thinking a lot about why people do they things they do, and more so why people (mainly) women enter the porn industry. I posed this question to the appropriate government officials and they granted me funds to do a study on the subject shortly after i returned from first stint in Iraq. I guess the guilt COAH places on us all whenever we decide to pick a girl to jerk off to for 10 minutes and disregard her shortly after, without giving a second thought about the person when just emptied our balls to, began to wear on me.
So I began reading articles and interviews from past pornstars and managed to ask some of the current porn stars questions relevant to the study. Then the pieces all fell into place, now there isn't one reason for all people who enter the industry, BUT there was one that came up in 8 out of 10 performers.
Hollywood's glamorization of the porn industry
This is the reason why 80% of the porn performers are in the industry today. Among the performers i was able to question that entered the industry after 1999, 76% of them said the movie Boogie Nights was the strongest factor behind their decision to enter porn.
This was a shocking discovery, So i went out and bought the dvd and watched it no less then 5 times, taking notes with each viewing, trying to pinpoint different parts which could seem attractive to people considering the life altering decision of entering porn.
Then I realized, there isn't any one point, because the movie is nothing like the industry itself, its a dangerous piece of propaganda, which has destroyed many young lives. I'm hoping this thread can clearly show the difference between the industry in reality and the industry in the movie boogie nights, in the hope that if one young, innocent attractive girl who was considering entering porn after watching boogie nights can see what its really like, and then make an informed life decision rather then one based on fiction.
Lets start with its star, dirk diggler played by mark walburg.
He is the star of the movie and is clearly the most dangerous to young impressionable minds of both sexs.
For Men: They identify with Dirk, after watching the movie the see that Dirk isn't that much different from who they are , it inspires them to want to be Dirk, they think they know what to avoid to have the downfall he does eg don't go to crazy meth head businessmen homes with fellow junkie performers, don't jack off in rednecks trucks in empty parking lots,etc. Little do they know its not black and white like that.
For Women: Women see the only people who are truly affected are the male stars and red head women with kids from a previous relationship, they see that all the other girls are fine, they get to fuck mark walburg, work for burt reynolds and get married to young up and coming bank managers as their careers wind down. Once again, horribly misinformed.

Also a dangerous figure in the movie, because he is shown as a far and loving man. He takes these kids into his home, he gives them freedom, pays them well and is honest.
These people don't EXIST in the industry, they will suck you dry, rip you off, destroy every moral fibre in your lifeless body and discard you like an empty soda can when you no longer have use.

Real Life: Max Hardcore
Porn Star's Best friend : Reed Rothchild played by john c reily.
He is dirks best friend and this character appeals to the "smartt people" social outcasts who don't have many if any friends and see that porn might be a way for them to strike up long lasting friendships with people who are supportive of them as performers as well as other industries such as music, (even if you are mind numbingly awful).
These people don't exist in porn, everyone is out for themselves, theres no real friends in the biz. Kendra thought she was friends with ex performer cassidey, she allows her to stay rent free at her place and gets treated like shit, bishop thought he was doing a fellow performer a favor by allowing him to pay him later for a car he sold him only to get burned and jenna jameson was best friends with nikki tyler sharing a place with her for years only to trash her to here to a bunch of random people on the net who she doesn't know.

Real Life: Don't exist.
Free loving , loyal porn teen roller girl played by heather graham
Granted Heather isn't my type shes still very fuckable, there are free loving girls in the industry but none look like heather. Try Bi britni and gen padova , even sammura doesn't give it up for free she charges at least half a pack of corn chips.

Okay you get the point, i am skipping Buck Swope, Amber Waves, Little Bill and the Col, although i could easily show links between reality and the movie but ive typed enough and my plane leaves in a little under 2 hours. Monkey out.
