You mean Hartree-Fock method self-consistent fields in molecular quantum mechanics? It's essentially a way of "averaging" a prodict wavefunction as tocompensate for the effects of electron-electron pair repulsion. (Which is not necessary in the hydrogen formulations that are the basis of introductory quantum mech.)

I vaguely remember anything, but still have the book somewhere. I have my hands full with other subjects, but maybe some other time.
