No less easily than straight female stars end up doing other girls. As to your point about adding more creativity in porn and expanding in the realm of novel softcore rather than always going for more and more extreme acts (which will eventually hit a dead-end; you can't go that much further than "Donkey Punch" without the risk of really hurting people), I agree partially, but you have to take into account that the producers of such videos would be taking big risks. There are many tried and true techniques in pornography, the result of ~25 years of experimentation with men's reaction to visual stimuli. Even the new things are usually just slight mutations of something that's been around awhile. (And let's face it: everything there ever was to know about sex was known to the Greeks.) If you try to be creative or artistic you are much more likely to fail than to succeed. The things that make that kind of pornography work are very subtle and difficult to work with. You ever watch a porn scene that was in all its gross elements the same as a thousand other porn scenes (e.g. suck fuck facial) and notice some little accidental thing turning you on (a funny facial expression, an unusual hand motion, etc.)? That's the sort of thing that makes good porn, and if you can make that happen all the time then you have gold. But most pornstars are lousy actresses, and if you make a softcore flick and that new look that you're banking on doesn't come through, and you have no triple cumshot to back you up, you could develop a bad reputation.
That's not to say that the situation is hopeless. There is a great deal more creativity in Japanese pornography that American pornographers would probably do well to emulate. Japanese porn is best known in the West for scat and similar acts, and when it comes to extreme they do indeed have it down better than anybody, but if you take the time to watch some of the softer stuff, you'll notice it's often a lot more detailed and varied. Not that it can't also be trite and repetetive, but in any event I think an American producer would do well to study some of the weirder Japanese stuff that doesn't fall into the categories of "disgusting" or "OMG HAVE YOU SEEN THIS FUCKED UP JAPANESE SHIT WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING COMING OUT OF THAT GERBEL????????"
