Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and MGM Home Entertainment will first release eight Blu-ray Disc titles:
The first wave will include 50 First Dates, The Fifth Element, Hitch, House of Flying Daggers, A Knight's Tale, The Last Waltz (MGM), Resident Evil Apocalypse and XXX.
A second set of titles will follow a few weeks later on June 13th, and will include Robocop, SWAT, Stealth, Species, Legends of the Fall, Terminator, and Kung Fu Hustle.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's movie title releases will coincide with the introduction of the first Blu-ray disc player from Samsung, the company said late Monday.
Samsung's BD-P1000, which was first shown at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas last month, will be available from May 23 at Best Buy, Circuit City, and specialist retailers, the company said in a statement.
No price for the player was given. At CES Samsung said it plans to sell the machine for around $1000, but the original launch date was slated for April.
Sony and Pioneer expect to have players available soon afterwards.
