Porn: the rebirth of philosophy?

Whilst I may be new to XPT, I'm a long time lurker. Whilst first I was drawn in by the adolescent thrill of tits and whores, what kept me coming back was the pseudo-philosophical spastic ramblings of people like Da Burg, the Arab, jamesn, etc. There's a lot of intelligence on this board, shown in the acerbic wit of the monkey and the aforementioned harvard graduates, and amongst such posters as gia jordan, whose eclectic interests, combined with her interest in black metal make her my perfect girl (apart from the whole sex for money thing...). Where's this post going? Nowhere. Except it got me thinking why the fuck people of seemingly large mental capacities would hang out on a board dealing with porn, a subject matter not generally associated with minds that much more advanced than Courtney Love. But then again, I think of myself as a man of reasonable intelligence and I'm here. So cognitive dissonance kicked in, and I was able to rationalise it away: porn poses so many questions. As simp/CAOH would say: why? And so we sit here, and post. I will end this boring and unnecessary post with some deep thinking by one of the great thinkers of our time, Mary Carey: Quote:
"Back in October, I was really Christian. I had a nervous breakdown and totally went Christian. Then Red Velvet, my little miracle worker, showed me some of the stuff wasn't right. I was convinced that the world was ending and the Chinese were bombing us. If you read the end of the Bible, Revelation, it talks about the seven trumpets. You can relate some of the seven trumpets to the modern day.
"Being a devout Christian wasn't as fun because none of my friends were devout Christians. When I hung out with the devout Christians, I felt like I didn't fit in. I felt like I had a potty mouth.
"I was with the Oneness Church and Episcopalian.
"I do have my own spirituality. I'm a good person. Just because I do porn doesn't make me a bad person. I help the homeless. I give money. I donate my clothes to the maid's service. Just because you have sex a lot doesn't mean you're a bad person.
"I argued with them that God invented sex (before marriage) and alcohol and they argued that Satan did. Then why did God let Satan put so much bad on the earth?
"I'm 25. I'm sure that when I'm old, like 30, I'm going to want to change my mind. Right now I just want to have fun. According to the Bible, the world's not going to end for seven years anyway."
Rate this thread one star, and put me back in my box. For my own sake.

gia jordan...her interest in black metal
You've gotta be fucking kidding me!!! Since coming back here about one or two weeks ago and reading her posts, it seems like she's a totally cool chick. But now you tell me she likes black metal?! Fucking eh!! Hey Gia- wanna hump under a funeral moon sometime?
And yes, there are some excellent philosophical discussions here and some outstanding writers, with Da Burglar, jamesn, Willie D, and (of course) simp/caoh being among my favorites.

The secret of the Monkey Cage is not hard to figure out. Even a child knows it. Sometimes they're laughing with you, sometimes they're laughing at you. It just raped my liberal views of humanity when I realized that a substantial part of the earth's population can't tell the difference.
As far as philosophy, I don't really see it. I suspect that Cage regulars have a few things in common:
1. They treat life like a joke. I don't mean in a ha-ha kind of a way, but in a "if you ever see siamese twins in person, it'll be when you're peaking on four hits of windowpane" kind of a way.
2. They're either declassés or born with more inherent intelligence than they knew what to do with, and pretty much coasted through the first two decades of their lives because of it. Which explains the need for recreational drugs.
3. They're social darwinians of one manner or another. Except ChickenMaster, the fucking commie.
So what seems like cruelty is really just a matter of putting philosophy into action. Also, we're fucking assholes, and porn is the only business in which human cartoons like Pamela Peaks, Hamilton Steele, Wankus and even L-ke F-rd could exist.

bullseye...100%...
The 'challenge' and satisfaction I find stems from exposing blatant, unfunny hypocrisy rampant in porn while at the same time celebrating, and enjoying my own brand of subtle self-entertaining hypocrisy. It's very hard to rant against, and vent about, and accuse people of things you yourself are guilty and get away with it, while making everyone laugh and/or weep in the process...very difficult.
Plus, this place is about sex (represented/lampooned by pornography...) Smart people like to fuck too, maybe more so since they tend not to have to worry about paying the light bill and can thus concentrate more fully...
...and of course, priceless self-esteem-picker-uppers like this picture, which allow even the lowest sick fuck posters that come here to feel good about themselves because at least they have not (probably) sunk this low...

Eddie, I think you're going to have some fun in here. This is one of the best threads that I've read at XPT. Arab your list was complete, that was it. In that light, there's nothing more I can say to answer Eddie's initial question that wouldn't be redundant.

There we go. That was my first time working with Brian. He's no Brad Pitt, but a great performer. I haven't worked with him in ages and directors have casted me with pretty boys since last year.

Saw someone reading this and decided it needs a bump. Its occurred to me on more than one occasion that for a porn and sex board, there's very little discussion of porn and less about sex. Porn as a business is amusing. Porn as a counter culture is more than just sex, its about saying fuck you to the way society thinks we ought to behave. I take great pleasure out of my dual life as pillar of society and pervert. I've seen colleagues show up to business functions with dates whom I know are escorts. Either their perverts like me or involved with a whore. I don't know which is more amusing. I just shook the hand of an important captain of industry with a palm that just been jerking off. If that's not symbolic of something I don't know what is.

I think this board mimics the natural functioning of the human brain, which goes something like this:
- begin random thought
- intersession - seek sexual content
- continue random thought
- get in touch with inner anger
- seek sexual imagery
- frustration increases at lack of whores (remember, one is not enough)
- rationalize hatred and lack of whores
- formulate a post on irrelevant subject matter, based on random thought and response mechanics (like billiard's table), disguise post as intellectual and/or witty and see if it evokes praise or hatred from other xpt members
- go to lukeisback.com or any other site of your choice
- return to xpt, re-initiate cycle
