James, absolutely brilliant...it's amazing how the "window" opens up and all is vividly clear, and we see how history keeps repeating itself except at lower and lower levels.
The parallels between the Roman Empire and American Society since World War II are so blatantly, eerily similar that I seriously have considered emigrating to Sweden (true, it's cold and everyone has they same 7 doctors to choose from, but you can get a blowjob while you visit the barber...) China indeed is ascendant, unless they don't smoke themselves to death or fail to find a way to bottle their pollution and export it...

My brother served in Iraq for 13 months...Military Intelligence. He has an IQ of 145, he is fluent in Russian (not just the language, but the mannerisms and idiosyncrasies...meaning he can BE a Russian), has a Masters in Business and Education, and is married (to a Russian Woman he met at Grad School) with 2 kids. He is the most moral, decent person I know. It's "Bread and Circuses" run amok with hi tech gadgetry, the Colliseum is replaced/replicated by every Television and Computer hooked to the internet. Roman Legionaires retiring to Rome after years of arduous, brutal noble service would pass through the City of Rome and see the drug addled/pleasure addled weak people, the government corruption, the fucking in the street, the real brutality/killing in the streets/colliseums and they would ask themselves...."What the Fuck?"....Randi Wright sitting in an alley would be just as appropos 250 A.D. in Rome, minus the Death's Head Boots of course...
Goddamn it's Christmas Day...all this shit I bought my family...Bread and Circuses...."What the Fuck?"....
(Seriously dude, the "Walls of Priam"....best X-mas gift I will get today, thanks...let's see if anyone catches that...)
