On another note connected only through a common theme on conception, I was watching a show the other night about a certain kind of beetle, where the alpha male will rape other male beetles, forcing the beta's to store his sperm inside them, and if on the offchance the beta males are able to find a willing (or small enough so they can overpower it) female, it will be his, and not their, sperm that inseminates the female.
