Um, that may be common in parts of California but it's certainly not common everywhere. Any parent who did that here would face a lot of social backlash; most people would think of them as not much better than John Walker Lindh's parents. Keri is not from California and I wouldn't assume it's common for parents in her neighborhood to do it.

If her parents didn't have porn/stripping in mind it would be interesting to know just why they did think it was a good idea.
