Chicago - The Little Village resident accused of kidnapping a young girl for a Satanic ritual is the frequent target of neighborhood bullies, his grandfather said Sunday.

Was accused by his grandfather of reading books about Satanic practices in the last couple of months. But he dismissed the notion that "David Rodriguez, 18, planned to carve a pentagram into the chest of the 6-year-old girl, as prosecutors have said."
"I was throwing the garbage out. I seen the little girl. She was next to David," the grandfather said. "I said, `David, what are you doing with that little girl?' He said they were going to baby-sit her." Julian Rodriguez said he joked that he hoped the boys were being paid well. But moments later, he saw a police car and his grandson and the 15-year-old boy were taken into custody.
Prosecutors said Rodriguez planned to perform a Satanic ritual on the girl to win back his ex-girlfriend.
David Rodriguez had become interested in the occult in the last couple of months, probably because he was the frequent target of neighborhood bullies, his grandfather said.
