I'm thinking it was the whole failed social security intiative that started Bush on this path.
I hope they aren't really behind the scenes believing that nonsense of just calling balls and strikes. Rarely are supreme court decisions unanimous. That's why there are nine. So, they can't tie. Saying it's the difference between balls and strikes is like saying the only reason we don't ever only have all justices vote one way is because they aren't up there simply interpretting the law.
The only silver lining I'm seeing in this whole thing is that I can't believe this lady is that conservative. She gave money to the Democratic party in the 80's. economically I'm conservative. But, just don't think the judicial branch makes that many economic decisions. As a conspiracy theory, oculd this possibly have been the best polically acceptable way for Bush to have maintained the current balance on the court? And, that's what he was really trying to do?
