If you're into this stuff, another option is a DAP (people still call them MP3 players) that supports USB On-The-Go. You can hook you're DAP directly up to your digital camera and move the pictures to the DAP. My favorite DAP that supports this is the iAudio X5L.
I know that article is talking about emailing, but my guess is that emailing the pictures to somebody else really isn't the point. I just don't see what they do on the television commercials where you take a picture of something and email it to your wife to show her how neat it is, as a heavily used application. My guess is that the real application is just getting them out of your camera's storage so that you can take more pictures. And, last I checked, DAP's provided a lot more storage for the dollar than those memory cards that go in the cameras. I don't do this myself, so my information could be outdated.
