I'm sure land seizures could be done as responsibly as possible. But, fair market value or even an over-valuing for land isn't necessarily going to make the former owners happy. For people like farmers their land is their way of life. They've got their cows already there, they know where to plant their crops, they know who to sell to locally. Being uprooted and told to go somewhere else probably doesn't mean an entire new way of life for most, but it's a pretty decent sized shock to their system.

If S. Africa is doing it responsibly though, I can't imagine land seizures would destroy S. Africa.
