Here's a suggestion on how to run the monkey cage(SM if your reading). We all know this board is ban-adverse. But we occassionally have problems with someone (from a south american country) spamming up the place with pics and driving off the talented posters.

So here is my suggestion. No one can post(but everyone can read) in the Monkey Cage. The only way to post is to be invited in by someone else. For example Smelly observes (in the general section)that Smiling Arab is a good poster and invites him in. SA is able to invite someone else in as well, say he invites smartt. Now smartt can post in the cage, but Smiling Arab will be responsible for the things smartt posts, if(when) smartt screws up both he and SA get kicked out of the cage until they are invited back in(they wouldn't be banned, just out of the cage). I think this would help the overall board as well. The posters in the general section would up their game to get an invite.

I borrowed this idea from La Cosa Nostra. I was watching that Johnny Depp movie where he was an undercover FBI agent and Al Pacino "vouched" for him to get him in the mob. In the ending when the mob realizes Johnny Depp was FBI they broke off Al because he vouched for JD. What do you guys think?

This is definitely a very interesting idea for how to run a message board in general. Having one well-known forum that is invite only. But, specifically having the monkey cage as an elitist organization just doesn't seem right. It's possible I'm just responding out of my fear that I won't get an invite.

If you had posted this a week ago when it was first clear that Monkey was really gone for at least awhile I would have possibly tried to back you. At that time I would have figured the Cage has nothing to lose. But, it seems like the Cage has recovered from the Monkey loss and there's some decent action here. Possibly even more diverse when we had the monkey? I'm wondering if it isn't kind of like the Detroit Lions losing Barry Sanders. You lose the guy that towers over everybody in talent, and all the sudden everybody else starts stepping up?

And, besides, if you gave Monkey the power to do the invites. Getting in would require an obnoxious period where the poster wanting an invite would have to intentionally make posts to feed Monkey's ego. Monkey would sit on that for all it was worth.

It would be a GREAT IDEA in the old Cage...but no We are in a day & age where the Cage needs all the posts & threads it can get...You can always just refuse to read the threads started buy the few jerkoffs that post repulsive shit here occasionally...I do
