I just talked with a model friend of mine and she told me she was scammed by a "so called" photographer. He took shots and B/G video (He was also the "talent") and told her he would pay her and give her a copy of the photos and video. He then sent her a nasty email and informed her that she wouldnt ever get paid for her work.

It's a friggin shame. People like this should be shot. It makes it that much harder for new legit photogs like myslelf to be taken seriously. One thing I learned early in life that applies in just about everything including porn. Money talks the rest is all bullshit. I live my life by it. As far as I'll pay ya later, I currently am working with a model who is also still "waiting for her pay for a shoot" from another scumbag photog. She is so awesome cause she gave me the benefit of the doubt and is being well taken care of each and everytime I shoot her and hopefully will help me when it comes to referrals in the future and it will all pay off.

IMO Anyone who trusts someone they dont know to "pay later" just hasnt used their brains and pretty much deserves it. STUPIDTY! Come on girls. Seriously??? If your going to be in this business at least be smart about it and dont let any random moron take ur pictues and let them claim to pay you. I have been doing this for four years with amatuer people and professional people... I have never had a issue with payment. But then again *sigh* I use my brains!

ahhh yes i know him well.....he's a scum bag alright.....his emails and what he

does is very different.I too was asked to shoot with him in a g/g shoot.I checked
his refrences that he gave me.Good news on that is what I got.
I went to the shoot... professional ...curteous....and the other gal had worked

with him before and was very pleasant.Shoot went well but before I could get

my money i had gotten a call that my kid had been hurt and was on the way to

the hospital so off i ran.
He called me later and said he'd give me the money the next day to meet him.
I got no money and very few pics from the g/g shoot.Said he'd send me the vid

clips and the pics when he had a chance to edit them.He also said he'd copy the
release form I had signed....which he didn't do.
Taking his word...I left..pissed off.No money.I emailed him several times

regarding my pics and he said he would express mail them to me...and i waited

and i waited.I sent him another email and got a scathing one in return.I was too

skinny he said... i was not even worth shooting(well if iwasn't worth shooting

then why habve me do it to begin with)told me i'd never work in this industry

again.Told me i was not an A class model soo leave him alone.

Yes hard lesson learned but... now i have bigger and better contacts that he

can't touch.The pro's from vivid never heard of him.....til now...and ignitevideo

the same.....along with a few others that I have contacted.
The more people that know about this guy the better.....he threatened

slander on me too if i talked negative about him.Well I think i'll risk it... after

all..... he fucked me over....and I'm not new to this industry.

Your a different case hun. Under those circumstances you had no choice but to leave and take his word. Your kid was hurt. I would be appalled if you finished the shoot and waited around. But all in all everyoen should be made aware

I'd like to say all of the advice here is good, but I can't.

We use a payroll company to pay all of our crew and talent. After the invoice is submitted (usually the same day as the shoot unless we're on a remote location) it takes 3 to 5 working days for the checks to be cut and delivered.

When the average shoot costs us $15K in salaries for talent and crew, it would be INSANE to have that much cash on hand in a location full of people we hardly know.
Sorry, but we run our business like a business (and that includes reporting subcontractor wages via 1099) and all I can say is if a business screws you, either take them to court or don't do business with them ever again.

But telling girls not to work unless they are paid up front is ignorant. This is a legitimate business and not street prostitution.
I certainly don't get paid for work I haven't performed yet and I usually don't get paid for work I have performed until the end of the pay cycle (twice a month).

On the ONE occasion where we had a problem with a girl, we told her to hold onto her model release and bring it in with her when the check was ready. Without the model release the scene is useless to us so it was her way of insuring she got paid. She has since worked for us on a number of scenes and pay was never an issue again.
