The entire AIDS/HIV issue is so politicized that there are few if any unbiased sources. The CDC's peer-reviewed scientific papers aren't perfect but probably have less bias than most.

And I don't swallow their 95% estimate uncritically. For example, if condom protection rates are that bad why isn't it showing up in the data at the Nevada brothels? Are they HIV-testing the johns before each session?

That's why I said 95%, and that's per contact with an HIV+ partner. And that's a 20:1 improvement over whatever the bareback odds were for that particular circus act, which may be a lot better than 1.0.
