Sorry to be Mr. Gloom and Doom....but condoms are NOT 100% effective. Anyone who buys into that should talk to a few girls that I know that they (condoms) have failed on several "amateur" shoots. So go ahead buy into the myth. Condoms are 100% effective…..right. Testing is also NOT fool proof. It’s called margin of error. Anyone who is a performer should understand there are risks. Just like you could get struck by lightning or hit by a bus. Hell you could even win the LOTTO!!!! I try to have everyone think of porn work in the same context as driving toxic waste or hauling TNT. It’s a “fucking†dangerous occupation. Now if your still looking through those rose colored glasses I have a great investment opportunity for you. It’s called the Brooklyn Bridge.

Testing should be pretty good. You can look up the "sensitivity" of a test (the rate at which it detects the target) and the "specificity" (in effect how good it is at avoiding false positives). As long as the samples are gathered right the tests are probably good.
Note that false positives do happen. Roxanne Hall had a false HIV+ result years ago, and I think Tiana Lynn had a false hep-c result last year. The tests are intended to be overly sensitive; you can always fix a false positive with a re-test, whereas a false negative might be far more serious.
I have found one estimate at the CDC that suggests condoms are 95% successful at protecting against HIV. I haven't looked for equivalent estimates on other STDs.
It would be nice to see AIM testing of other STDs for surveillance if nothing else - is there a widespread problem with various STDs or not?

I hate to be a dick here again but if the CDC said Chicken Little was right and “the sky is falling†would you believe them? Remember you can use your own judgment and don’t believe everything that is written. I will say with that condoms would be perfect for a couple in a monogamous relationship for something simple as birth control. But if your doing scenes all over the place (i.e., not the bedroom on the "bed") it’s not conceivable that they will be 100% effective. If anyone (male or female) has apprehensions about catching something (STD’s in general) in the biz they really shouldn’t be in it in the first place.

I wonder why syphilis and herpes aren't on the AIM list (but I guess herpes is a sure thing).

If the shoe fits then wear it. In my opinion you are a dick. It also seems like you don't care if you have an STD or any remorse if you were to give it to someone else. I'm not blaming anything on AIM and I know comdoms are not 100% safe. But if you test weekly for STD's it would limit the chance of spreading it to someone else. Just because someone choose this profession doesn't mean he or she shouldn't care about health and whether or not if they will regret it later.

Anybody can go to AIM at any time and be tested for everything that everybody has mentioned here(herpes,Hpv, syphillis, hepatitis, trichomonis, etc, etc,). The only tests that AIM makes "public" are the HIV and gonn.chlamydia.
It is up to the TALENT to decide what tests they want done. AIM does not "enforce" any "rules" regarding testing, that is up to the individual TALENT. The entire AIM program is voluntary. There are no laws regarding testing, unlike the laws in nevada regarding brothel workers.
Should AIM test for more things more often is not the proper question. The proper question is should the TALENT test themselves more often? It is the TALENTS responsibility.
I think one thing the talent should always remember is...not only are you taking a risk, but YOU YOURSELF ARE PUTTING OTHERS AT RISK when you dont use any protection, which in this buissness is most of the time.
I dont know this for fact but I would speculate that there are a number of performers who test more often and for a wider variety of std's than just the minimum "requirement"
AIM does not 'require' talent to test. It is the talent who you're working with that requires that you be tested.
Bambi, you made some good points. And if you are a performer,(I dont know if you are or not) you can go get tested as often as you like. Nothing is stopping you or any other performer from testing as often as you feel comfortable with.

You still need to have a PHD, to claim to be a doctor. She claims she is a doctor. From what you described, a physician's assistant can do all those things. So basically, she is bullshitting about her MASTERS and PHD. RIGHT?????? :

RIGHT?????? :
Sharon Mitchell has a Masters in Public Health form Pierce College and a PHD in Human Sexuality. And there's more to running a medical facility that sees ove 1000 patients per month than just collecting blood and piss in a cup. SO basically the answer to your question (RIGHT????) is Wrong. Do you really believ that running a medical facility is that easy? AS jimmyd would say N....please!!!!(no need to pritn a racial epitath)
edited by myself to remove the cheap shot I took at Mandy MY apopgies to the board.

I thought it was strange. I know that Sharon Mitchell has credentials, I have seen here in many interviews. Im was just talking about what Jim South said about her being full of shit. Hey I dont know neither one of them so I can not say anything and prove it. I would assume that she would have the proper credentials to open up the type of business that she has. So dont be a hater, I was just asking a fucking question.
