Have you ever heard of shaved tires? You're a little serious when you pull the AC, but once you're that serious there's a lot of stuff people do, like pulling out the other seats, etc. And of course that spare tire is long gone...

And I'd be wary of saying that somebody into-it enough to do without AC in an LA summer "doesn't know how to drive". What will you do if she challenges you to a run at a track? It could prove very embarrassing...
