well, keiko and i went to see this film toinight, after re-watching the original last night...

im iffy on it.

if you don't think of it as dawn of the dead, it rocks. it lacks DotD's anti-consumerism message and really does not capture the true spirit of the original, where they kinda spent a lot of time fucking with the zombies and getting comfortable with their situation.
iin this one it is very rushed, we have a much larger cast and it does not have the same personality.... the reasons why they get to the mall and why they leave were my biggest complaints, that and lack of charachter develpment.
but, on the whole i liked it. dispite not having the message romero put in the original, it did have a great ending, in true romero style... not a happy ending, a fuck you ending... you have to see it to know what i mean, but it was well executed.

still not feeling the fast zombies or the shakey cam.... but on the whole it was a great flick, but i want to see it do VERY well. so that maybe a studio will fund romero's 4th dead film, tentatively titled dead reckoning.

oh yeah, and ving rhames rocked, and i wanna stick the tip in sarah polley
