What you saw in the cinema was probably edited; therw was a R rated version (not unrated,) that had serious edits and a different soundtrack (by the goblins, but I might be wrong.) Its not that it was a scary movie, it just had so much intangible coolness that is so thoroughly lacking in most horror lately. I read a few script reviews of the dawn of the dead remake and they panned it. But, maybe they have a bias against remakes much like me. Scifi/horror remakes suck!
Planet of the apes, texas chain saw, Psycho, House on Haunted Hill, Godzilla, Rollerball?
Has a remake ever been good? I liked the 1990 night of the living dead remake; its about the only thing I can think of.
I just envision hollywood recycling old movies like Last House on the Left and it makes me cringe.....
