I actually think it has to do with the fact they don't work much. If you are free lancing you are always working, doing different scenes for different companies, vivd gets a lot of money for their stuff that has nothing to do with units sold, so their job is to get the hottest stars in the biz at the time and try to string them out as long as possible, get the most from them over a period of time. BUT the more free time these performers have then the more time they work out ways to destroy themselves, if they are always working then that takes up a lot of time that they would've used snorting large amounts of coke off a 80's hair metal band's lead singers chest, trying to top their pain killer intake record from the week before or in devons case seeing how thin you can get the bridge before cutting off the oxygen to your brain
