oh, there were cops. he'd just done the same thing to some middle-aged woman about 40 feet in me and the cops recognized the guy immediately because they've taken him in for being too hands-on pretty reguarly it turned-out. the cambridge police station is all of 100-yards from where this happened, so they took a few statements from the lady and other people and i had to actually go to the station to do mine. they were doing things by the book, but not serious about it at all. nothing came of it, nada on the books. one of the cops said he'd been wanting to clock the guy for years.

as for the details, i hit his jaw with an elbow--i didn't have the seperation to throw a punch and didn't really feel like breaking bones in my hand either.
