First of all, "speeds of up to 35 mph" doesn't seem very menacing. Is that even speeding? Are they going to shoot a jaywalker if a balloon pops nearby?

Second, the accuracy is embarrassing but raises the larger question: What were they shooting at? The goal is to not shoot until you have something to shoot at. It's not as though they needed to lay down covering fire or something - they were shooting for the sake of shooting, whether they knew where that round went or not.

PS. My grandmother could literally shoot better. She only fired a gun on one occasion in her life (when she was in her 60s) and she needed only 6 shots to put one round in a burglar.

While I agree on the number of rounds being excessive, you should consider that the driver had shot at police when first stopped, they even recovered the spent brass at the location of the first stop. And he admitted being on a drug binge during all this.

That said: One officer should have put one bullet in his head and been done with it.

I guess 35 MPH being escessive depends; on if it is coming at you, or you are standing on the sidelines.
