Indeed they did go somewhere - into the neighborhood houses, at least one deputy, etc.
How many cops were involved? 120 rounds is a lot. How many times did they have to reload? How many opportunities did they have to think about whether one guy in a car chase ("speeds of up to 35 mph") might not be as dangerous, even to themselves, as shooting up the neighborhood?
The other reason to ask how many were involved is whether it was just a couple of idiots or whether it goes deeper. If it's 5 or 6, or more, then there's something deeply wrong in training, and you can assuming they're all infected.
So much for "One Shot, One Kill"...
