Ego? Absolutely.

Porno? No way, says a lawyer for Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens, whose smiling face popped up in a photo shoot for a hardcore Web site.

The loud-mouthed T.O. had his lawyer fire off a cease-and-desist letter to the Web site TheDirty.com, which ran the picture and snarkily suggested the All-Pro receiver was considering a career in the porn business.

"All this was designed to bring embarrassment to him in his professional and personal capacity, and subject him to ridicule," reads the angry two-page missive from lawyer Allen Lerner.

"The clear meaning and innuendo is that Mr. Owens was actively and consensually participating in a porn site - a lie."

The shot was taken when Owens accidentally walked into an adult photo shoot taking place in Miami's South Beach, Web site TMZ.com reported.

The beaming Owens was unaware when the snapshot was taken that it would appear on the Web or link him to the adult entertainment industry, Lerner wrote.

A posting on TheDirty.com said the story was "dead in the water" until the letter appeared on TMZ, which prompted renewed interest in the incident.

While the porn site that originally carried the picture has taken it down, it remains featured on TheDirty.Com despite the threatening letter.

The missive from Lerner, obtained by TMZ, charged that TheDirty.com was trying to "disrepute and smear" Owens' reputation by posting the "misleading and nonconsensual" picture.

Some might say Owens' reputation is up for debate.

In his 12 years in the NFL, he's created controversy on and off the field - battling with his quarterbacks, joining actress Nicollette Sheridan for a risque "Monday Night Football" promo and overdosing on prescription medicine.

He was last seen crying after the Cowboys were stunned at home by the eventual Super Bowl champion Giants.
