I recently found a cache of 78's in the 183 yr old plantation house. Some of them belonged to an uncle and some of them were my fathers.
I found a 78 of Little Richard singing “Tutti-Frutti”, and played it on the record player I mentioned before.
It was pretty fucking awesome to hear that raw sound erupt from that old record player in that old house, and think about my dad being about 13 yrs old and bringing that record home to that same house and playing it for the first time in 1956.
My Dad is dead and Little Richard is still rocking.
