Evan Bourne, nigga!!! He used to wrestle as "matt" and his gimmick was that he was a tiny dude that could actually go in the ring. He then wrestled as Matt Sydal in various indies including PWG, ROH, and WSX. I used to watch him wrestle at the tender age of 18-20, back when he was the only guy in the fed who could perform a convincing shooting star press and standing moonsault. Kid had chops and everyone knew that if anyone from GCW would make it anywhere, it would have been him. And he made it all the way to the top.

Whenever Owens' Portland promotion came within 100 miles a big group of us would go. We always made a point of cheering the heels. John Nord loved us. One night we started a "blood!" chant at the beginning of every match. It was like a night at the Bingo Hall. Best bloodbath ever.

A guy I went to school with got in Rip "the Crippler" Oliver's face as he was headed up the aisle after a particularly heinous act to keep the Northwest Heavyweight Championship. The guy I knew was a big wrestler in school, so he figured he had the situation under control. He drops to one knee to do a single leg takedown. Ripper chose a less traditional response. He busted this guy over and over on the noggin with the strap. It was really brutal and was over in maybe 15 seconds.

Yeah, they used to get pretty crazy at GCW for being a hole-in-the-wall local promotion with a solid mix of decent rasslers, fat hoosiers, and yard-tards. Pedigrees and piledrivers through tables. Balcony dives. Exploding barbed wire. Brutal chair shots galore. Hell, one time, The Irish Luchadore Billy Mcneil climbed up a 30 foot chain attached to a garage to do a plancha through a table on none other than Matt.

Hammerstien is in North Jersey I think. The ECW Arena is being converted to a concert venue, and I don't think it holds any sporting events anymore. The Reunion show is being held at the National Guard Armory in Northeast Philly. It is right near the casino and the stroll that is crack/smack whore central.
I really want to go. I haven't made a "WILL WRESTLE FOR BEER" sign or started a "We want BLOOD!" chant in a long time. ECW live at the Babe Ruth field in Trenton is right up there with the first time I saw Motorhead live, which was also the first time I heard of Motorhead.
I used to have a site that posted PPVs in HD the next day, but I haven't bothered looking at it since Mega & FS went down. I'd take a link to a good quality stream via PM.

Pritchard was a narc. Johnny Ace was the gaijin(?) wrangler for one of the Jap orgs, so he had experience w/ talent relations, when they wanted to replace Ross. Who else could they get, that knew what he was doing to replace Ross? Bischoff? Jerry Jarrett?
If I had any money and financial know how, the day Vince drops dead, or can't handle things, I'd short the hell out of the stock. As annoying as he can be, Vince did build the damn thing up. What is the backstory on Shane taking the walk? I know he bailed, but I don't know why. I assume some heat with dad and/ or family, but I can also see a situation of wanting to strike out on your own and make your own mark in an industry that you weren't born into.
As for Franchise working at the Target, it's easy to giggle about it (God knows I have), but I've also known folks who've put in years at the Mart, or Target, or Albertsons or wherever that are pretty happy with the choices they've made. I mean, we get a steady drumbeat of those being loser gigs by people who have a bigger agenda, but there's money to be made there in the long haul. If I had to choose between the POS, no future, soul crushing gig that I've invested a decade- plus in today and investing the 20+ years in the grocery gig I had in college, I know which I'd choose today.

I believe Shane split when he realized that the control of the company was going to HHH and Steph. He had been doing the Linda thing, running the business side. He might be running mom's campaigns, I don't know. He had a meeting w/ Dana White, and it was rumored he was going to be buying into UFC, but in the end, I think it was more Dana picking his brain about over seas TV deals.
The guy is in his 40's, has a family, and probably got sick of doing the same shit he's been doing since he was born.

Yeah you can make jokes about Wal-Mart or Target and the people that work there but you never hear any story on the news about massive lay offs and downsizing at either of those stores. The thing about making fun of Walmart people probably has more to do with the fact that they seem to only hire complete and total fucking troglodytes than the whole "haha you work at walmart" thing. Now, I'm not sure about other walmarts, but the ones I go to are seriously filled to the brim with the stupidest, ugliest, fattest, most worthless fucking idiots I've ever seen try to run an operation.
I've mentioned before that I like shopping at Walmart really late at night because I'm the only white person there and I feel like I'm on vacation somewhere in the pacific islands.
