Fatty, Son of Sam is a fab movie, Do The Right Thing is awesome and Jungle Fever is even better, I liked School Daze, the musical numbers were crazy, but I like his movies. Crooklyn and Clockers (filmed in the projects on the other side of my area) are real good too.
I just watched Girl 6 last nite for the 20th time, only thing on at 2am, Madonna's part is cool the way she reads her the rules, that's a pretty good flick.
Going to watch Last Exit To Brooklyn, nitey nite folks.

Do The Right Thing is easily in my top 20 of all time.
I didn't like the "love story" portions of it. Rosie Perez, Ruby Dee/Ossie Davis. I would have like the movie better if these had been omitted.
Danny Aiello was fantastic. John Turturro & Giancarlo Esposito were stellar. I enjoyed everything that involved the pizza parlor.
I didn't like Jungle Fever at all. Clockers fell flat for me. Didn't like it; didn't dislike it. Possibly because I have no sympathy for the City's drug dealers and their families. Though the acting was supurb with Keith David and Keitel at the top of their games.

In an article on swearing in Brooklyn (he's very much for both) Denis Hamill quotes Spike Lee regarding his casting of Danny Aiello in Do the Right Thing: Quote:

The only Spike Lee joints I've really enjoyed are Do The Right Thing and When the Levees Broke. I absolutely couldn't stand School Daze and couldn't even get through She's Gotta Have It or Mo' Better Blues. I thought He's Got Game was alright but that's pretty much it.
Spike does a better job bitching about lack of representation for the brother in film instead of concentrating on his own career.
And BTW: Balkan peeps curse the best.

Spike Lee is a racist piece of shit, therefore I refuse to watch his shitty movies.
That said, I subjected myself to "Semi-Pro" last night. I was sorely disappointed, the only real funny parts involved Rob Cordory which surprised me as Will Ferrel usually has me in stitches.

Not always. The first two that come to mind are both horror movies but the remakes are far better then the originals:
The Blob and John Carpenter's The Thing.
But by and large, yes, most remakes suck.
The original Stepford Wives was creepy and suspenseful. The Kidman version was horrible. I couldn't believe they tried to make a comedy out of it. That's like trying to redo Rosemary's Baby as a musical.
I didnt see the remake of the Blob I saw the original. A really really bad one off the top of my head is Planet of the Apes.....You dont mess with pure fabulousness. Rosemary's Baby is one of my all time faves and the 1st Stepfords was awesome, the 2nd one was fuking plain awful, I really dont like remakes, but I do want to see Halloween by Zombie.

Oliver Stone: Platoon
The rest of their movies: disappointing to varying degrees.
Both of them would have benefited from being less-productive ala Q. Tarantino.
Recorded and watched "the Howling" for the heck of it.
Featured 1981 styles, gratuitous nudity and the then-mainstream interpretation of porn as rape in the movie that played while Dee Wallace was in a XXX-nickelodeon.
Also, pre-CGI long-winded lycanthrope transformations and a screenplay by John Sayles.

I just watched "There Will Be Blood" again.
Daniel Day Lewis is the greatest actor I have ever seen in my life. Daniel Plainview is one of my all time favorite characters in a movie.

But it's not a perfect movie. The preacher is a good character but the actor playing the role isn't up to the task. The music is pretty awful.

I think you'd be surprised by "my left foot". It's not your typical "overcome any obstacle" movie. The characters are real, they are not likable for much of the time and it isn't heavy handed with the message.
The other thing is of the three movies you mentioned- Daniel Day is a totally different person in each movie. It's amazing.

I went to see "You don't mess with the Zohan" today. It had a lot of really funny moments. Overall it's a typical Sandler movie. A lot of dumb shit and some funny stuff too. Some smoking hot chicks in it too.
