this is an old max hardcore movie. it doesn't contain a lot of the more violent or gross-out elements of his newer films. well, the violence is still there, but it's subtler. you can definitely see the same themes at play, though.

I haven't watched much Max that was produced before 2002/03, but have noticed that the stuff before that is considerably less violent and gross-out stuff. I've always wonder what caused him to shift his movies more into the what they have become today.

Is it because other companies started shooting similar rough and degrading fuck-flicks that he needed to try to outdo them to keep his reputation as the most extreme pornographer in the US?

Or is it because at his age and after so many times fucking so many different women, he has became burnt out on just normal sex, rough sex, and even rough and degrading sex, that he keeps having to resort to more sick and twisted things just to keep himself interested in sex?

I've been pondering this for a while.

Max's best stuff was all done before 2000 when he was the godfather of gonzo and his porn was stroke-worthy, but now I'd almost rather read big moose's reviews than watch the product myself though I saw this one back in the day. Sadly, Max is just ol' drunken grampa gross-out now destroying crackheads and naive whores who don't know any better. Not to be completely negative, I think a good marketing gimmick for him would be to produce complimentary Max Hardcore barf bags to give away as a bonus with every new release.

i write these things like stream-of-consciousness style, so here's some stuff i left out that i would have mentioned:

-in the last scene with blair, mr. hardcore wears a pink condom.

-the film is subtitled "run-"away. like many people, mr. hardcore doesn't seem to understand how quotation marks work. it seems like he wants to have it mean two things. "runaway", like a runaway child, and "run away", like these whores should have did from bad max hardcore. it looks retarded the way he did it. he should have just done "run away". it would have been enough, and we would have gotten it, i think.

-jessica jewel does most of the talking in her scene with mr. hardcore. boy, does she have a mouth on her. i like it when the hookers talk, at least with max, because he sure never shuts up.

-also, in her scene the reporter ms. jewel plays is like a feminist reporter, or something, and she is there specifically to interview mr. hardcore about the way he treats bitches in his movies. right up her ass.
