Ok, I guess I am in Bob Geldoff mode this year or something, or maybe it is mortality's icy cold hand giving my bowels a shake, but we need to help Simp/CAOH thru his latest personal/financial crisis. The dude is a institutional treasure for those of us who find xpt an invaluable 'coping tool' for life, and it is time those of us more fortunate than he step up and help our brother out.

I looked into hiring him as a Beer Tester, but I just couldnt get our 3 legal wet blankets comprising our Risk Management Team to look the other way and sign off on it, even after parading 5 strippers through their collective laps during a "Brainstorming Dinner/Night in San Fran" recently...this 'help windsock project' has already cost me in the low 5 figures and it's not even tax deductible yet...

So I get this message from our treasured friend while I was away this week (typos left in to prove authenticity):

Tell me what hoops I need to jump through for this to work. I don't care anymore. Dignity is a luxury I can't afford. I'm not adverse to outright charity. One of my favorite movies is 'It's A Wonderful Life' and I think the ending with Jimmy Stewart's lifetime of goodwill among his community saving him from financial ruin is not unanalogous here. Though it might be more appropriate in this context and venue for ChickenMaster or an agent of ChiCkenMaster to execute me on the order of the xpt Star Chamber, but in the end that is splitting hairs. Some money will help my situation just as much and the uncruel sting of sweet death. Send money. I'll accept all monies sent gladly and with humility. I will perform tasks/acts for said money. I will sell of personal effects. I will do a number of things.

Well well well...lets be realistic. Everyone has different thresholds of pain, and the same goes with Poverty. I know people, friends, who have net worth's in the low 9 figures who could, and do, live incredibly simply and spartan, they dont "NEED" anything...I also know many people who make 60K a year tops and have tastes and spending habits that rival Paris Hilton or European Royalty, they are in hock up to their ass and are NEVER satisfied. And there are many people in between...Me personally, I live well and like to live well, especially with death so clear and distinct...but my "happiness" is not predicated on material possessions or wealth.

Windsock is not happy, given this latest crisis in his life. I have no idea what his life circumstances truly are, and yes, obviously the man is not starving if he can afford booze, movie tickets, Internet and loads and loads of "THE Pornography." But his threshold of pain is clearly low...and he is suffering.

Is that why, then, I am going to send him a few bucks? Nope. I am going to send him something simply because, in the 2 years I have been here, he has entertained me and made me laugh more than the last 4 or 5 comedy shows I have been to, which easily, after drinks, food and tickets and other shit, have cost me, I estimate, around 800 bucks. So sending this lovable boozer some cash, given his apparent need, is easy. Besides, I want to, I can, so I will.

Beside's, he's right about XPT being superior in all facets to ADT. We take care of our own...and we should all hope and expect Windsock to use the money we give him to stock his fridge with beer, go on a 3 day bender, whack off furiously to the Cherry poppins thread, and continue to make us all laugh with his inspired posts.

Throwing your millions at the world may feel good. Goodness knows I've thrown my thousands at enough members of the Single Mothers Benevolent Society to know the mixed feelings it inspires. But you have to realize at some point that you are just enabling the next fix. Keep convincing yourself that, this time, you are really helping someone in a tight spot. And then, the next week, when they call again and ask if you want that tight spot again in exchange for some help with the "rent", tell yourself that you are a good person for helping out.

Well, fact is you will never ever REALLY know just what my motivation is, but its nice to know it bothers you just a little.

One last thing. DeBarge is a very nice guy and he is one of the few who contributed something lasting and meaningful to this board. I'm going to leave this here as is. All I ask further is that loopnode appends that one photo of the bunnyrabbit grabbing a cookie in its mouth to this thread. After that I ask that no further replies be added. This is how I'll like to leave it.

I can confirm that Windsock and I have PM'd each other within the last couple of days. He received the monies I sent to him, and Burg sent him some bucks, too.

I hope that he is somewhere in a stupor, enjoying himself. Or making some serious chili. No, that's not a euphemism in this instance.
