The Baltimore Orioles....Dem Bards - 08/14/16 06:22 PM

This afternoon, the Baltimore Orioles staged a dramatic come from behind charge to defeat the San Francisco Giants. The rally was capped by a Johnathan Schoop home run, and Zach Britton came in for the save. banginbanana

Yankees got a 24 year old, 6'7, 275lb power hitting outfielder who is the future of the franchise. First game, first at bat he hit a HR, back to back w/ a teammate who also hit a HR in his debut at bat just before him. Second game, another HR.

Live it up Orioles fans. In another 2 yrs you'll be starting a decade of fighting the Red Sox for a wild card spot.

It will be a horserace, for sure, but Kevin Gausman and Dylan Bundy come through, then I believe we will win the division.

My Dad was a fan of the Brownies. Earl Weaver played minor league ball for the Browns. Let's see how it all comes out in the wash.

Tonight's loss to the Red Sox at home kinda takes the starch out of my previous exuberance. We might end up in the wild card fight.

They should. The Yankees suck this year. Show a lot of promise for the future. I'm liking Didi and Castro. Judge and Sanchez should be cornerstone players. Byrd healthy next year for firstbase. Ton more talent in the system to trade for pitchers once these position players get settled in.

Toronto and Baltimore got 2 more years before it is the Yankees division again.

P.S. I'll be rooting for Showalter in the playoffs.

Re: The St. Louis Browns....Dem Bards - 09/05/16 08:38 PM

I am glad that you will be rooting for Showalter in the playoffs. He is actually a better manager than was Earl Weaver, although I risk a tarring and feathering in my hometown for dissing the Earl of Baltimore.

Today's come from behind win over the Tampa Bay Rays in encouraging. Not only did we get some power and timely hitting, but the painfully inconsistent Ubaldo Jimenez actually pitched well. jam

The Orioles defeated the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday. Soon we will go head to head with the BoSox for the division title. Any thoughts from the peanut gallery? wink

Gary Sanchez already best hitting catcher in baseball. If they brought him up at the all star break, he'd be ROY. .327/16hr/30rbi in 178 plate appearances AND throwing out 36% of guys trying to steal bases.

Haven't seen the replay yet, but it sounds like the umps handed a victory to the Cardinals tonight.

Sheepishly admitting this is true. Blame to outfield at Busch Stadium. I makes it impossible to figure out HRs vs ground rule doubles. It didn't matter anyway, the SF baseball Giants won in Coors Canaveral, so the Cards will probably get shut out of the Wild Card anyway.

If the Giants win the Wild Card, good chance they can beat the Scrubs.

Showalter is overrated as a manager. Baseball analyst nerds watch him make 150 pitching changes in a game and declare him a genius just because he makes 150 pitching changes in a game. They never stop and ask how many of these moves actually worked. If you can get swept in a best of seven series by a team managed by Ned Yost you are not a genius at managing a baseball team.

Showalter may not be a genius but as a manager he is definitely very good and perhaps excellent. I though that he should of had Britton ready to go and that going to Ubaldo was a mistake. Nonetheless, he is a very good manager who has brought success to the Baltimore Orioles. Just one man's opinion.

I wish it was possible for the Mets and Yankees to trade. Take McCann and give us Harvey or Wheeler. You take the money owed and the slugging catcher, we take the risk on a injured young pitcher w/ upside.

Re: The St. Louis Browns....Dem Bards - 10/06/16 10:44 PM

Sanchez for Harvey & d'Arnaud or no deal.
Posted by: Jerkules

Re: The St. Louis Browns....Dem Bards - 10/07/16 08:24 AM

No way. Harvey is always hurt and we got 3 catchers already, so we dont need one back in the deal. If you want a young catcher, Romine for Wheeler and one of the pitchers brought out of the minors and into yer rotation late this year.

Fine you keep him, panic when his agent demands millions that he hasnt earned via his performance, and sign him to a huge deal that he doesnt live up to, costing you the chance to sign deGrom or Thor long term. Dude has been all hype, aside from a half a season 2?yrs ago.

McCann is looking "catcher old" at 32. We aren't trading a potential ace for a washed up left-handed hitting catcher/DH who can only slug .413 in Yankee Stadium. We're better off keeping all our pitching and hoping for a bounce-back season from d'Arnaud.
Posted by: Jerkules

Re: The St. Louis Browns....Dem Bards - 10/08/16 08:57 AM

d'Arnaud? He'll be hot in April, then miss May, June, and July w/ an injury that he was supposed to be back from in 15days.

Mets are a win now team, so having a slugging catcher w/ 2yrs left on his contract is exactly what they need. First base is open, so he can play a little there to get a rest.

Harvey has a long way to go before he sniffs the phrase "Ace". Maybe he could start by wearing a rubber when buttfucking broads and trying to play a full season.
