Rejoice? Ok. Enjoy? Maybe.

But don't state that the Lord has made this day. It doesn't exist and if it does, it has done a ultra-shitty job so far.

What's with you alkies and your fucking Lord fatalism bullshit? Maybe it's a beautiful day to you, but in some other part of the world, it's miserable weather and some 9 year old is living in a tent, fighting a war. So, just when you think everything's peachy because all it's sun shiny outside your camper, forces of nature made that weather. And your life's circumstances made it possible for you to gobble Xanax in a cornfield with your ham radio. NEITHER were due to some divine hand, and no, jerking off to Gag Factor isn't what I meant.

It's Veterans' Day, and as much as I despise the hypocrite, I'm not going to be the one who points out that he's hardly a "stand-up guy" when he willingly gives his money to the people who produced I Can't Believe You Sucked A Negro.

Even if he did spend his entire hitch passed out, dead drunk, in the radio shack, he served this country and I won't mock him today.

I'll do it tomorrow, though...

Had to look up what Bojangles is. It looks too much like KFC for me. A Grilled Filet Sandwich would be all. Thanks.

Bojangles is a lot different from KFC. From the chicken to the sides, it is different. It's a Southeastern US thing.

What about cornstarch, too? I made some shrimp the other day and the recipe called for coating the shrimp with cornstarch before frying them in peanut oil. It made them nice & crispy. Speaking of the shrimp, I endorse this recipe: Slippery Shrimp.

I don't eat all that much fried chicken, though I had a breast today at a local mom and pop restaurant. It was regrettably forgettable- as were the green beans, creamed corn and mashed potatoes. There is a "soul-food" place in town that does a meat and three that is incredible.

Good morning Charin. I didn't sleep, nagging headache. This kind of pain is very unusual for me and there are no pain relievers in the house so I'm just trying to ignore it.
Posted by: charin

Re: Good Morning Thread - 03/21/12 04:19 AM

I can get rid of all headaches (except injury) after an acid trip years ago.

What I do is simply meditate a oneness with the pain, move it around in my head, and move it out the top of my head. Simple, but it always works. Give it a go, it can't make it worse.

Edit - works for hiccups too. Never hiccuped more than 7 times after that trip.

Re: Good Morning Thread - 03/21/12 08:47 AM

It was perfectly fine. It looked questionable, but once I peeled it, it wasn't at all overripe. I knew it was right at the borderline though, so I peeled the rest of the bunch and threw them in the freezer in a ziplock bag. They'll work great the next time I feel like making a smoothie.

I get to pick and choose all of the ingredients, all of which are upgraded over a typical Sausage & Egg McMuffin. For example, I used two eggs, a bigger sausage patty and real colby cheese. And I get to prepare it myself so I know I won't get sick from the food. Also, I don't have to leave my house, drive anywhere, wait in line or interact with other humans.

Same here on the savory > sweet. Have you tried SmittenKitchen on IG?

I don't go on Instagram much. Honestly, the majority of the recipes I try online come from one website: foodwishes.com. I don't ever follow the recipes exactly, but the videos are great and they give you an idea of the proper technique. I made cioppino last week using shrimp, crab, lobster, halibut, fresh salmon and some mussels & clams. The basis for the recipe was from that website and it turned out amazing.

Cooks Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen sent me an email last week with a recipe for a Spanish Tortilla using eggs, potatoes, peas, diced peppers and onions. It turned out pretty good for a first try, although I'll admit I cheated and put the pan in a hot oven to help the top of it firm up before I tried to flip it (it's cooked in the pan on both sides, which you probably already knew). I can't post a direct link, but this website seems to have an adaptation of the same thing: http://www.staceysnacksonline.com/2012/08/spanish-tortilla-w-roasted-peppers-peas.html

I love breakfastses. My most favorite is poached aiggs with buttery rye toast and homefries. It's delightful. Milk.

Food52.com will change your life. I first discovered them on IG; the food porn blew me away. The recipes are easy and the ingredients accessible. I HATE going on a hunt for expensive esoteric ingredients! Right now I'm into the Fresh Fig and Mint salad. Can be made with or without carpaccio. Also into their Miso Black Cod.

Miso black cod sounds like a medical problem.
