Cardio son, 45 minutes at a time at least. Pay for the goofy test and let them prescribe the right workout based on your current fitness. Don't get caught staring at the hot girls until you've dropped 30 lbs, at which point you just might be in like Flynn.

Good job taking the plunge and hitting the gym. No puns intended. Good luck!

I do 15+15 minutes of cardio on the Precor machine at 20/20 incline and 13/20 resistance settings.

I just bought some more of performance enchancing supplements: 2 bottles of Arson fat burning pills by the Muscle Asylum Project, for nigga-strength results and 2 1lb bags of whey protein (banana and mixed berry).

That's called creative advertising. Also, stay off Gatorade, store bought fruit juices and all those sports drinks for the same reason. It will be plastered with "Now with vitamin C!!" and "Electrolytes for energy!!!"

Sure, it has vitamin C in it. After the juice was pasteurized so it could sit in the grocery store and not rot, they added vitamin C. They also forgot to tell you about all the damn sugar in there. Same with sports drinks...it's all sugar. Electrolytes? I get those from food, but if you're really concerned, Smart Water contains electrolytes. Get your energy from real, actual fruit, veggies, whole grains (oatmeal and brown rice are best) and meat. By the way, coffee ain't bad for you. It gets me buzzed enough for workouts.

I've found a lot of promising reviews online of Arson, and I just gott see it for myself if it will work or not. Right now I gotta go and blow out a turd and then I will be off to gym. It says that the pill kicks in in around 30 minutes after you down it. So it SHOULD work by the time I will get to gym.

Those online reviews are mostly plants by people working for the company. My trainer's partner has taken women with no gym experience and had them placing in shows within a year. And his opinion is that burners (even shit like Clenbuterol) is nowhere near as effective as 15-20 minutes of interval cardio in the morning. Seriously, read the fucking book That I recommended. There are no shortcuts....

I hate to go against Gia's advice but I haven't changed much in my diet for the last six months and I've lost 15 pounds and gone from size 40 pants to size 36. All I've done is seriously step up my exercise. I've done on average between five and ten miles of fairly serious hiking every weekend (I did 17 this past weekend). Admittedly I'm not cut upper bodywise, my chest and arms aren't much different but I'm at a point where a belt I could not fit around my waist at this time last year almost needs another hole drilled into it for me to wear it now and I have dropped at least five percent of my body fat. I've been eating pizza for breakfast pretty much 5 days out of 7 during this period too.

Just got from the gym about 15 minutes ago. At around 9:20-9:25PM I started to sweat more than usual and my body turned hot more than it regularly does, especially my head and chest. Overally I exercised enthusiasticaly. I think that in order to feel the full results of this Arson product I gotta wait until I can take 3 pills at a time.

Re: Gym - 04/22/08 09:27 PM

Lay off the pills. Make sure to eat a good breakfast, get some protein, meat and cheese in it. Doesn't have to be big, but enough to stave off the sugar rush and following crash that you'd get from only a glass of juice, or cereal.
45 minutes of cardio 3 times a week at least!
I weigh less now than I did as a soph in college, due to this. Throw the Ipod on and go. Make nice with the trainers, get 'em on your side and they'll help you out.

edit to add: that's optimistic yet attainable Alex. You're gonna have to buckle down and force some new routines on yourself. Don't deprive yourself on your favorite foods, just have them less and in less ample portions. Learn to cook, just a couple things even. Eggs, fruit shakes, chicken, etc. You're making an investment in yourself, put some money into it.

Re: Gym - 04/22/08 09:51 PM

Eat small, healthy meals spread out throughout the day, run like a rabid rottweiler is chasing your ass whenever you have free time, and, if you're doing this sans trainer, keep the weightlifting simple until you drop down to your goal weight. There's no need to do anything other than basic exercises to begin with. Worry about defining later.

And, as everyone already said, quit the pills. If by some miracle you do see positive results from taking them, the negative results -- break outs, agitation, panic attacks, sweating while you're inactive, etc. -- will be far more pronounced.

You fucking dummy! Buy the above-mentioned book! It is full of common sense advice, plus over a year of workouts in it. It shows you everything step-by-step, plus advice on nutrition, warming up, and stretching.

and FUCK 45 minutes of cardio:

Forget the burner. Check out the book or any of Ian King's stuff on line. he is a smart guy. John Berardi is great, too. I'm in decent shape (especially considering my age) and have fucked around with a ton of workouts/supplements. If you're looking for a good jumping-off point for cutting fat and looking ripped, try this:
http://www.bodyforlife.com/

It completely changed the way I look at nutrition and fitness. I don't recommend it long-term, but it worked wonders for me out the gate.

Im sticking with Arson because I believe in fancy box art. Progress today, on the abdominal crunch machine I began using the weights of 170lbs with 25-15 rep per set.

Books are for idiots. Results are simple: will, effort + potent pills.

It doesn't burn fat, but if you want to try an appetite suppressant, you might want to pick up some Hoodia. Just make sure it's the real stuff. 1,000mg about an hour before each meal with a glass of water. If it works for you, you'll completely lose interest in eating.

It is expensive though ($30 for 60 pills). I bought mine by happenstance when I saw it near the check-out at the grocery. Someone must have seen how expensive it was and changed their mind about buying it. You shouldn't take it at the same time as alcohol, but when I've taken my full daily dose I've noticed this is the only thing that can kill that late-night drunk craving for food.

The brand I bought was Hoodia Health - Hoodia 500

There is a progress going on: for the abdominal machine I can now do the full stack of weight (200lbs) but not too much. Also the chest machine is now 196.5lbs from 165lbs last week. And the back machine is now 135lbs over from 105lbs from last week. I can feel the monster nigga streight in me (not really, but I feel better and stronger). And also the Precor machine is now 20/20+15/20 from 20/20+14/20 from last week.

So far so good but I do have to sleep more because with current tasks I only sleep around 4-5 hours per day, my eyes feel tired but body feel okay. I began using the N.O, Plasmacore nitric powder by M.A.P. today before the gym, but couple of times I regurgitated the fruit smoothie in my mouth. I felt no results from N.O. Plasmacore today.

Re: Gym - 05/06/08 04:24 AM

99% chance you've got about the muscle density of someone 100lbs lighter than you if this is your first foray into the ggm.

you need to find someone to teach you how to do squats and deadlifts, hang cleans, or power cleans with the right form.
people are happy to help-look for the guy in the cage moving decent weight without his knees extending way forward while keeping his back and stomach straight through parallel.

then stick to compound movements-rows and pullups are going to do the same thing curls do but involve your back, one of the places where you'll develop a muscle that's capable of adding 20x the weight as just doing curls. the other thing you need to be doing is a pushing movement(you worked the quads, hamstrings, abs and back by keeping the weight from b bending you over in the squat rack, and the pullups/downs/rows will do your lats, rear delts, biceps and to a degree your traps ALREADY) so all that's left is a pushing movememnt-meaning a combination of dips(they have machines that help assist you) and flat and incline bench/dumbell presses with as much weight as you can handle.

in fact, for the first 2 weeks do 2-3 sets of squats with a weight that you can't lift more than 10 times one day, 2-3 sets of pulldowns/ups from 10-8-6 reps each set a little heavier then another day do the same 10-8-6-ish mix of dips and benching.

really, ask people there and you will get help and don't kill yourself in one day. split it up into like, a leg day, a pull-day, and a push-day with as much weight as you can handle and you'll start putting on muscle-mass fast because you'rethe right age hormonally.

that muscle mass that you'll start putting on won't make you a pro wrestler because you don't have rare genetics and 100x a safe dose of dianbol.

it WILL burn fat 24 hours a day for you. cardio is great-but REALLY THINK ABOUT THE NUMBERS OF EXTRA CALORIES YOU'RE LOSING FROM YOUR DAY.

you drink 2 sodas and YOUR CARDIO IS NO LONGER LOSING YOU WEIGHT THAT DAY.

you live in nyc and you're probably weaker than someone much lighter than you that worked out before this week, not even heavily.

make sure you get some skim milk and a multiviamin and that's all you need to "supplement" yourself if you're willing to get sore and make sure you're days are hypocaloric. you're young and new to things-you can lose weight while putting on "good" body-mass to help you lose more weight at the same time.

go do some cardio, kep the lifting to compound movememnts with heavy weights and don't ever work the same muscle group within 48 hours of the last time you did.

so 6 days a week of a few hard sets of 10-6 reps doesn't take long in the gym and you'll have recovery time where the muscle fibers repair thmeselves on that schedule. do cardio some-just remember it takes EONS to work off the calories of a big meal while you'l; do better adding muscle that burns fat all the time for you without becoming a hamster.

i do jumprope for like 15 mins a day max and it's as anaerobic as aerobic, but keeps me quick and i occasionally clean the lungs out reading on the recumbant-I just made it a habit to work out a little but hard 4 days a week minimum, you won't need snake oil and hours on the treadmill if you stop eating shit and make it enough of a habit that popping into the gym and getting stronger becomes fun for you and you'll do better than herbal stimulants and getting burned-out and eventually quitting doing longass cardio work to burn off a snicker's bar.

cool your still at it.

just make sure your more active and doing stuff you like.

Run, walk up some hills. Walk more. Hiking is good. Cycle around. Swim. Instead of hiding in the bushes try running-

eat better. quaker/steel oatmeal, protein, fruit. Later at nite some low cal stuff like carrots, celery, nuts. Stock up on stuff you have to cook or make--veggies, fruit--

Forget all those supplements they are useless. Why you taking supplements designed to get you big. They are full of sugar. They will get you really big and fat.

and last strength doesn't mean your in shape. Forget i did 9 reps of 140 stuff. Your already big you just need to tone up some. Low intervals + cicuits/supersets are faster

Me, I'm 5'10, and about your weight. Anytime I get on a scale and see under 250, I'm happy. Fattest was was 267 when I graduated High School. Lowest was 225, two summers later when I was working at a moving company and living off a hoagie a day and beer.

If I ever get my hands on an 8ball of good meth, I'm going to try and see 225 again. Just a key bump a day after a good breakfast to keep the hunger away. Diet pills suck w/o ephedrine.

Been working out 5 days/week since February. It took me 2 months of just going through the motions and clock watching, waiting for the time to die so I could go back to my nice down duvet and internets to by April TO BECOME A FULL-FLEDGED WORKOUT FIEND. Sometimes I go twice a day.

You can use a holistic enema.

Sometimes I'll go to a new gym on a free day pass. I go into a stall and take an enema. I hold it in until I'm out in the gym and I see how many squats I can do before it releases.

I cut my own hair now with electric trimmer. I stopped going to the hairperson for 8 months, that charged $8.00 for a haircut and when I took it off, there was almost full mixing bowl full of hair. For a minute I thought putting it on eBay or selling it for people that make all-natural wigs.
