Give the five directors a basic script and plot. Let them each come up with a 1 hr treatment using the same talent as they best see fit.

I kind of dig this idea. It might shed some light on how much difference the directors make with the models in how a scene turns out.

A remake of Ugetsu should be easy to shoot. Have the pottery maker fall for a very sweet and sexually liberated Lady Wakasa (insert JAV idol here), but instead of returning home he stays with her in his revelries.

Ugetsu is one of my favourite films, I own the Criterion set.

Lots of great erotic stories in Japanese literature, it's what makes all the roman porn and pinky violence films of the 70s awesome too.

I watched Ugetsu a month or two back. I am seriously considering purchasing a copy of it. Truly beautiful.

Japanese exploitation films are easily the best made in the genre. Beautiful Girl Hunter is shot like an art film but has some of the most transgressive content you'll see outside of a 70s storefront porno.

Suzuki and many of the directors of these movies apprenticed under Mizoguchi and Naruse but ended up making dirty pictures in the 70s for the major studios.

I've seen some of the classics of Japanese cinema from the '50s and 60s but haven't seen many Japanese exploitation films except for a few on Netflix (Ichi the killer, was one)and the usual Takashi Miike Yakuza flicks.

I'd recommend the aforementioned Beautiful Girl Hunter, Lynch Law Classroom, Sex and Fury and Assault! Jack the Ripper for all discriminating perverts.
