Two sided printers - 02/11/11 12:52 PM

Fucking terrible idea. Just brutal trying to deal with anything over eight pages. There's no way not to mangle the fuck out of the thing folding it to death and if you stick those neon tags everywhere it gets worse, not to mention tendencies for high-end lasers to smudge. Give me twice the thickness of a document, most can be split up and put together with the high-test black clips and reassembled without error if paginated right in a minute.

been there, done that. worked in an office where the double-sided directive was handed down from the mountaintop. chaos ensued. people scratching their heads "it seems like pages are missing" because no one bothers to look on the back of anything. people are throwing chairs, throwing laptops, throwing guys through windows.

it's the same as people will see a domain like "business.tv" and type it in "www.business.tv.com", do that three times and give up. you can't un-com those motherfuckers, its like trying to unmix paint. it is hardwired. and that's why we're all damned, damned to the broiler eternal.

no. much like Hyde, true lasting change only comes on the backs of the young. a nation of blonde haired, blue eyed superkids trained uniquely to look on the backs of pages. also, to conquer the world.

We generally only supply soft copies of our documents to customers.

I don't think the kids can be taught to read two-sided. Hell they can't read a book.

A "book" is the file that goes into your Kindle.

i think bornyo was taking a shot at Dominicans again, which, whatever, he'll answer to jesus for that, but i saw a documentary about an english lady in florida that takes them in. if they say no i won't then she says yes you will and lets this retorting go on until they take a swing at her. after that the learning can begin. at one point she turns to the camera and begins to describe what sounds like the act of breaking a horse but she hesitates as if bothered by the actual words.

later she's teaching a dominican guy how to write - or “write” in so far as someone else had to, technically, put a pen in his hand and then move it over a baseball contract. that's real progress (kinda got a braveheart vibe).

Buy good paper instead of the cheap shit and it'll be fine.

Re: Two sided printers - 02/21/11 01:55 PM

it's not the paper itself, it's the fact it's fucking irritating to have to deal with reading a stapled-together document with shit on the back of pages. it's oragami from hell.

The two-sided thing is a ploy to weed out morons. Apparently you're a moron.

Re: Two sided printers - 02/21/11 05:54 PM

hey, a moron doesn't have a ged framed on their wall.

wait, you're a fucking peon driving a provision truck around a city full of chicken carcasses to believe that. if you think anything important isn't one-sided. dunno, go look at c-span and see what the back of what's being read looks like or something. it's blank. sec hearings, blank. court system, blank. leases, blank. anything with excel shit interspersed, blank.

think about how text runs onto the back of a page with the start of a new section vs. just having half-full pages then the NEXT way the thing's divided.

most every professional document of size comes off a big commercial laser and they're one-sided.

part of the reason for this is when you have language and comments constantly being inserted, IT FUCKS EVERYTHING UP WHEN A DOCUMENT DOESN'T MOVE PREDICTABLY DOWNWARDS LIKE YOU'D READ IT ON A MONITOR AND LAWYERS AND ACCOUNTANTS KEEP ADDING LANGUAGE SO IT STARTS LOOKING SHITTIER AS THREE WORDS RUN ONTO THE TOP OF A PAGE.

All of this doesn't mention that Foresters need jobs. Seriously. I have a relative with a Masters in Forestry Management. Paper products are truly recyclable and a shitty pine tree can be used several times before you wipe your ass with it and flush it down the toilet.

Most corporate and legal docs are being scanned to pdf for storage these days. They don't matter if it's one sided or two but I guarantee the people scanning them care.

Fascinating thread, really, right up there with Barry bitching about the mail man.

Wait, seeing as I only know the name Goddard for something about liquid fuel in propulsion and altitude that's either the strangest choice of 20th c. Minds or im missing something unimportant
