Since this thread was the reason for my post in "General Porno Talk" called "The Future of Porn", I would be curious to hear your opinion.

Your line about renting or buying this DVD is what got me thinking. It seemed so antiquated. I saw a movie and an attractive woman who I didn't know that I wanted to see naked, so I got her name, logged on to a VOD clip site and checked out some of her movies. Is that a bad thing?

Do you get more in compensation from DVD's sold (which I would suspect is a shrinking market) or from VOD minutes sold? I don't know how it works. Sure guys usually don't watch an entire movie on VOD, but aren't there many more of them buying portions of the movie by the minute than the entire movie on DVD?

In other words, why promote specifically buying a DVD (like you wrote) over watching a few minutes on a VOD website, or am I reading too much into what you wrote and that really is what you meant anyway?

I'm just putting the word out there. I think most people in my position need multiple streams of income to get by. VOD, dvd sales (domestic and foreign), broadcast deals, etc. I need to maximize every way to exploit the content.

First let me say that I am actually a fan of Brandon Iron's work....but be that as it may....

Notice, how he didnt answer the question? He rarely does. If you ask about booking a girl he has shot in the past, he does the same thing....gives a statement that doesnt answer the question...hes just like a politician.

I thought the question was fairly simple...I believe the question was, which one is more profitable for you, Brandon Iron, dvd sales or VOD sales? The answer he gave was, "most people in my position need multiple streams of income to get by". If you dont want to answer a question, why dont you just say, "none of your business". It would be more respectable that a "non-answer"answer.

Look, like anything else in porn, things vary.....greatly. Girls rates? They vary. Guys rates? They vary. DVD sales and VOD revenue? Same answer.

I've had long establshed series like I LOVE IT ROUGH that have outsold multiple volumes of other series combined. The VOD minutes creep into hundreds of thousands....over time.

The most direct answer to a specific answer is that great movies that capture lightning in a bottle will be incredibly profitable. All you need is the right cast, the right attitudes, the right day, the right weather, the right photo taken for the cover, the right timing of new women versus vets, the right distributor, the right advertising/promotion, etc. etc.
