Mike South's advice for talent part II - 12/10/07 08:28 AM

In light of this whole Roy Garcia/Shy Love thing I’d like to point out that talent should start asking this question:

“When do I get paid? and how?”

If the answer isn’t the day of the shoot and in cash turn around and walk away

UNLESS

The company is Vivid, Wicked or one of the other biggies who do payroll checks within 2 weeks.

Save yourself having to chase your money, and NEVER EVER EVER allow the company to pay your “Agent”

When you go in to meet with a producer for a job, at the time your signing your paperwork, MAKE SURE you see it featured somewhere what you'll be paid for your assignment. Make sure it's what you verbally agreed to. If it's not there, ask them to put it in... Before you SIGN the paperwork. If they moan about it, tell them you'll gladly wait.... If they still bitch about doing it, get the fuck up and boogie out the door.

Some smaller end operations also pay talent by check, but keep in mind, you are NOT apart of their "payroll" system. You are what's considered a "sub-contractor" and should be paid after the job is finished.

Here's some advice for talent: stay away from Mike South. His porn sucks and won't advance your career.

That may -- or may not -- be true, but his advice is valid regardless.
