Elli and I spoke about this at length during our trip to NYC and we came to the same conclusion. It would be totally irresponsible of us to continue to perform in porn now that we are aware of the unreported risks of HIV (not to mention the Hep C case I've previously reported) and knowing what lengths the industry goes to in order to get their scene!! It'd be playing russian roulette!!
Today, June 20th, 2009, Elli and I officially announce our retirement from the Porn Industry. We will no longer shoot scenes and we will not support their actions by continuing to work in an industry with no true regulation. We take this stand now in hopes of making a statement for all the world to see their gross indifference for our lives..
IF THE PORN INDUSTRY CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE AND POLICE THEMSELVES, THERE NEEDS TO BE LEGISLATION TO MANDATE CONDOMS, THE ABILITY TO USE ANY ACCREDITED MEDICAL LAB FOR TESTING, TESTING OF ALL STDS, not just a few, AND MAKING THE PRODUCTION COMPANIES RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING THESE RULES THROUGH INSPECTIONS AND FINES AND/OR CLOSURE OF COMPANIES FOR NON-COMPLIANCE!!
There is a powerpoint presentation from the LA Health Department regarding HIV and STD exposure to industry workers that is definitely an eye opener, to say the least. See video below.
My understanding of STD reporting has always been that all STDs must be reported to the local Health Department which in turn reports to the CDC, who monitors the cases and decides if action or quarantine is necessary. AIM did not do this in any of the18 unreported HIV cases in Porn Valley. We were all working under the mistaken belief that there were no HIV cases since 2004. This is our health and our lives which Elli and I value too much to continue this type of risk.
We will continue to watch and report the unfolding of the coverup by AIM because we have many friends who are still there working in Porn Valley. God Bless and Be Safe!!

For someone who is credited with only 11 scenes (per IAFD) and stayed in the business less than even one year, she sure is getting a lot of mileage out of her so-called "retirement" announcement.

Second, I have 11 DVDs. I've done approximately 56 scenes, most for internet which they don't count on IAFD.
Third, we're making plenty of money now at the Bunny Ranch so no need to senselessly risk our lives now that we know to what lengths they will go to get their scenes.
Porn is a billion dollar business in America and as such, should be regulated like all the other businesses in America. There is nowhere else that an industry can get away with these abuses.

Desi's nitwittery aside, I think it's intersting that the Industry is scared shitless of government intervention. Until something goes wrong. Then everyone's happy to let the gov stick their greasy fingers right into the pie, so to speak.

When they didn't report those cases, they took our ability to make that choice for ourselves.
Use of condoms minimizes the risk as far as you can go. The only way to be 100% safe is to be sex free.

Yes, somewhat disturbed. Depression with a healthy dose of anxiety. I pretty much hate myself and often wish for death. On the other hand most of my panic attacks manifest themselves in fears that I'm having a heart attack. I'm a firm believer that the only thing that's stopped me from splattering my brains on the wall is that I'd miss what happens on wrestling next week. I've always pretty much done the sad clown thing as a cover for my fears and insecurities. But I know who I am, and I know I have weird thoughts. And I fight them every day. And I try not to let it define me. Although I think to a certain extent it does. Kind of makes for a perpetual motion machine of self hatred and shame.
I've only used the "Barry" handle for the last year or so. I used to post alot on alt.swingers, rec.sports.pro.wrestling (or something like that), a porn newsgroup whose name fails me and a few others depending on what my hobbies were at the time. Never on alt.flame tho.
Not a salesman of any kind. Even in my little side gig, I get really nervous going into shops to sell my wares. I'm just a really smart underachiever who has never been able to apply those smarts to anything worthwhile.

It occurs to me there is a lot of wasted talent and effort in this thread, giving credit by attention where it is not due.
Think of the possibilities of applying these talents to a crooked corporation or porn producer/production house, and the potential hilarity that could ensue. Hounding Desi is like 60 minutes or 48 hrs running the Michael Jackson or Farrah death story. Yeah people will read it but couldn't you do so much more?
