Sorry if something like this has been posted a million times before. I want to get some work in gay porn and was wondering how hard it is/how quickly someone can find work. I'm 21 years old, in good shape and while not a bombshell, I'm at least moderately attractive (maybe a "7" or "8" on the attraction scale?). I live in San Francisco (gay porn capital of the planet I think besides SFV?) and am open to do any kind of work. Do you think I could find some work within a month of looking, or is it a long process to find connections? Do you have to respond to an ad, or are there "walk ins"/picture submissions? Is the fact that I'm not a strikingly good looking model type going to hurt my chances much?

Any help would be immensely appreciated.

There is a gay porn agency, but I can't remember the name. The car wash I frequent in West Hollywood has a sign for it right there in the waiting area. Only in L.A, right? Have you tried Craigslist? Or the back pages of gay mags? Or emailing the porn companies directly?

You do have to be very attractive with a hard, fit body. Body matters more than face, so you'll probably work. The only time looks don't apply is if you're a bear, and bears are usually older guys. You're 21. They're expecting you to look really amazing.

Really dude, coming to XPT and asking a question about gay porn...have you ever looked at a gay porn site? A whole shit load of them directly ask for new models.

I'd suggest looking at a list of gay porn sites ("Cybersocket" magazine is a good place to start...don't ask why I know that) and sending your pictures and stats to them and deal with them directly. They do usually pay well for first timers but issues like being out of shape might be a big deal to them. Sean Cody's a good place to start (and based in San Diego) or theres a ton of companies where you live.

I've heard of a few companies having weird exclusivity contracts, so be warned about the model releases you sign. Do a few amateur sites if you're serious and get your name out there; you're not just going to get signed with that agency mentioned (and they're one of the only ones dealing with gay models).

And expect to have the HIV by your third or fourth shoot. Its just the odds you know.
