It sounds like China is becoming very Americanized.

BEIJING - The founder of a China’s biggest porn Web site was sentenced to life in prison by a Chinese Court, the state media reported.

Eight others involved in the case also received jail time.

Chen Hui, 28, was also ordered to pay 100,000 yuan or $12,500 by the Taiyan Intermediate People’s Court, according to the Xinhua news agency. The others received jail terms of between 13 months and 10 years.

Chen reportedly founded the “Pornographic Summer” Web site and later started three more porn sites where he charged registration fees of $25 and $33 to an estimated 600,000 users.

The news agency said it was unclear how much money Chen made, saying most of the cash was stashed away in foreign banks or spent.

Chen had kept one step ahead of authorities who tried to close his site by simply changing the domain name and server.

China, despite looser controls on pornography, has developed a proverbial army of cyber police who regularly patrol cyberspace for porn sites operated in the country.

Wow, XXXchurch.com posted a blog on this, here is the intro:

China Not Taking Any Crap!

Not to long ago XXXchurch was approached to help with China's porn problem... Looks like things are going well... We will keep you posted...

J.R.

Then the article which basicly states what the above post has already stated. Life imprisonment for a few porn sites?!? What the hell? Before you go patting yourselves on the back for your involvement, XXXchurch(which, I would venture to guess was not very much), do you not also realize China is a communist country? Do you not realize that Communist countries generally shun Christianity? Wouldn't helping them out be kinda contridictary to what they are trying to accomplish? Is this what you want, porn outright banned in the United States, also? Don't forget that the 1st Amendment of the Constitution that gives you freedom of Religion also give freedom of Speech. Now helping people break porn addiction(if there really is such a thing) or getting performers out of the business is one thing. It may be misguided, but still it seems like you are trying to help people there. Calling for people's rights to be taken away is quite another. At first I thought you guys were basicly out for a good, yet somewhat silly goal, of helping people kick the self-destructive habit of porn addiction and girls in the industry who felt trapped by it a way out. Now I see you are after something more sinister, mass-media attention and the elimination of free speech and press in the United States of America. I cannot, under no circumstances, support your stance on this issue.

Edit: This makes me happy, a couple of people left comments on their blog questioning this move:here

One of their own recent converts, a former Playboy photographer, had this to say on the matter:

Quote:

Legislating away problems will never accomplish anything. Forcing people to do something does not result in a change of heart. I think this story is horrible.

Just thought that should be Copy and Pasted somewhere before the owners of the site and ministry take down particular comment for fear that it makes them look bad.

Thanks for exposing the moronic nature of xxxchurch for sucking the cocks of atheistic Communists for "not taking any crap", presumably the same way the Red Fascists don't take any crap from practicing Christians, Tibetans who want independence or even cultural autonomy, or Chinese people who want democracy. If xxxchurch wants to with the ChiComm Red Fascists it only shows them to be rather than true Christians. A happy Thanksgiving to xxxchurch.

Without pandering too much to Luke Ford's patently twisted agenda, let's examine the whole concept of turning the other cheek, personal freedom of expression and worship and religious tolerance, shall we?

It has always been my take that Christianity as an organized religion preached understanding and forgiveness. Hey, so I was wrong. I don't know when it started, but religion these days seems to be more about personal smugness and judgment than anything else. The Good Samaritan story could never happen in the 21st Century. The majority of Christians I meet are quick to judge and condemn, and have no place in their hearts for turning the other cheek or of doing unto others as they would have done unto them. They'd rather it just didn't happen in their back yard. But my, are they eager to tell you about their beliefs!

Indeed, the entire suggestion that an unhappy porner can be "saved" by finding God is rather bogus. As well as the happy and the horny, porn attracts the damaged and scarred. If you deny that, then you're living on a flashy island with Tattoo as your servant. Girls get hooked on drugs, their relationships fail, they miss work - we've all seen it. Does this mean their soul needs to be saved? No. I don't think it does. I think it means they need to clean up their act and find a profession that suits them. Perhaps one where recreational drug abuse and the misguided belief that you work in Hollywood with all its associated glitz isn't so prevalent. I'd argue that it's the whole false notion of "showbiz" and its inherent pressures which tip some of these girls over the edge, not the products they're making.

And back to China. For any Christian outside that totalitarian regime to happily raise a hand and suggest that they were culpable in assisting a country which is credited as the world's greatest executioners (they even have traveling execution buses nowadays) is utterly sickening and, frankly, so 'unChristian' that it could be described as evil.

I hope that the author of those comments spends time reflecting on what his words actually meant, and that (irony alert) in the fullness of time, he too can experience the joys of life in a political system where freedom is a very limited commodity indeed, and religious beliefs are handed down by the State.

you bet! i'm orthodox. they pass that goddamn plate around no less than three times, and then you can hear the bastards counting it during liturgy. it's ridiculous. then i go to my kid's catholic school pep rally and the fourth grade cheerleaders are dancing like little whores to "check up on it". i was proud of my daughter though. she shook that ass way better than all the other little girls.
