My UT Vols got started last night with an exhibition win over Ala. Huntsville. They put up 62 in the first half. May be a tough year for them, though. First-year coach Rick Barnes didn't inherit a lot from the cheater Donnie Tyndall. They lost their top scorer from last year, Josh Richardson, to the NBA.
In Division II my alma mater, Lincoln Memorial University, is once again ranked highly and expected to have a stellar season. They return most of their scoring from last years 30-3 team and have added a redshirt senior, Jalen Steele from Miss. State, to the already strong backcourt. Go Railsplitters.

Don't expect a lot of input from me in this thread. I already know my team is going to suck holy ass this year. Two best players graduated, another two or three kicked off the team, another two or three transferred, and one had to give up the sport due to injury. Got something like nine newcomers coming in this year and only one looks to be above JAG level. Leading returning scorer averaged about five points per game last year. I'm actually amazed that most of the pre-season magazines I've seen actually have Texas Tech ranked below us this year. I'm seriously not expecting my team to win ten games this year.

A long losing season in basketball is insufferable isn't it? I just try to look for improvement and take a victory from that.

I can't relate to basketball. With baseball and football, I could actually picture myself being able to participate. Not basketball though. There's simply too much running back and forth.

The Vols squeezed by UNCA last night behind 31 from Kevin Punter. Played horrible defense. May be a long long year. I noticed Ga. got knocked off by UT Chattanooga and Ky. only won by 13 against Albany.

I am still steamed that Maryland left the ACC for the Big Ten.

Miss. State loses to small school. Ala. gets absolutely hammered by Dayton. Tenn. loses by two to a decent Ga. Tech team. Scoring is up from the rule changes apparently. In Div.II my LMU Railsplitters lost their opener on the road to a hot shooting King University in a close one. King shot the lights out. Then LMU won their next against Lees McRae. They were ranked fourth. We'll see how far they tumble. Losses are rare for them. May have been overconfident in the opener.

Ky. is looking tough as usual as they dispatch a fine Duke team.

My Vols are 4-2 after losing to a really good George Washington team last night by three. Rebounding and free throws doomed them. The new rule where a coach can't call timeout during live play is dumb as fucking fuck. Needs to be changed back immediately. The Vols play Nebraska today at noon in the consolation game of the tourney.
LMU has only lost the one game so far and throttled one of their main rivals, Carson Newman, the other night. They play UVA-Wise today at 4. Unfortunately the TN.-Vandy football game is at the same time so I'll be watching that.
