I would not be so sure.

The US wants him, but France and Poland emphatically do not want him sent to the US. Switzerland needs France more than the US, and the recent Swiss/US banking dustup is going to have the Swiss uninterested in helping the US in any way, to put it mildly.

My guess is that the arrest was by some low-level police flunky acting on a routine warrant and in complete ignorance of the political situation. Now it's solely a political question.

I would not be at all surprised to see the Swiss just release him, refusing extradition. The ostensible reason would be that he has already served the sentence the prosecution in the US wanted, making the case moot. The real reason would be to stick it to the US as retaliation for the UBS etc banking stuff, and to win points with EU neighbors France and Poland.
