The *technology* to do HIV testing at a shoot has been around for a while in other forms. That's not the holdup. The problem is getting FDA approval for it, specifically getting approval that does allows someone other than a licensed nurse to administer the test somewhere other than a licensed medical facility.

Porn needs a test that is quick, cheap, has very few false negatives, and not too many false positives, and doesn't require an elaborate testing infrastructure. But public health agencies just need a test that's cheap. Anything that might be "better" (and might therefore be mandated) yet costs more is a big no-no. And there are various groups with a financial interest in not being cut out of the testing revenue loop...

PS. I vaguely recall that the "quick" tests that would work for porn if allowed are antibody tests and not direct tests for the virus.
