Wait, that's with parental consent, right? As in an individual can marry at 16 if he/she has the approval of guardians.

By "age of consent" I mean the arbitrary age - which varies from state to state and country to country - at which a person is considered legally able to agree to consensual sex - not necessarily marriage. In NJ & PA that age is 16. In NY, it's 17.

Sex with a person under a locality's designated age is considered rape - most often called" statutory rape" - since, though the person may have been willing, they are not considered to be able to make an intelligent decision in regard to understand the circumstances and consequences.


In Florida, I think it's 18. So, if you happened to bang one of those idiot youtube-assault cheerleaders who was say 17, you're in trouble since she's not adult enough to decide to do that. She's only an adult when she decides to bash her friend's face in, or so says the prosecutor.
