You can be fired from a partnership even though you are a general partner. If the majority partners vote to fire another partner they can do so. The fired partner still retains his equity share but will not be involved in operations. You don't necessarily need to be bought out of a partnership in order to be removed. This has to be stated in the partnership agreement.
As none of us knows the detail of their partnership agreement, we can't precisely say. But generally you can fire a partner from the operation of the business.
